A good win today, lots of positives. Yes, we should have scored another to settle us down however this was away in Moscow with key players missing.
I also think Monaco or Bayer may drop points in Mosow esp as its only going to get colder out there - they won't fancy playing out there in Nov/Dec!

Excellent all round performance. A few nervy moments, but that's to be expected at this level.

Thought Wanyama, Toby (again) and Son were excellent. Lamela was frustrating first half, much better when moved central. Eriksen, not at his best but put a real shift in. Janssen, tough one, he does hold it up well but long term we need more - I think it'll come. Stunning cameo from GKN.

It was a really good win.

I felt we dominated the game but we must get more clinical in front of goal. At times we were trying to be too clever and missed quite a few good chances. Against the better European teams we won't get so many and have to take more of those we do.

For those who constantly are on the backs of some players, I suggest they read this about Lamela in The Guardian match report:
"Pochettino wanted one killer pass for one clear-cut chance and Lamela provided it. He shredded the CSKA back-line and, suddenly, Son was one-on-one against Akinfeev, with the destiny of the tie at his feet. Son’s finish was too strong and, although the goalkeeper got something to it, it was not enough. The ball rolled over the line and the sudden silence inside the arena was jolting."

Lamela was quite annoying tonight. Overly predictable and losing the ball plus made us very narrow but as soon as he went central it just clicked more. Gkn was brilliant. Added some extra pace in the 2nd half and was happy to stay on the line. Son was very good again. That was a good away win with so many injuries.

It was Lamela's movement and passing that kept opening them up

He played the perfect through pass that led to the goal and three points; end of.

Massive result. Couldn't give 2 shits for the performance though I doubt we were as bad as half on here make out. Group is looking a lot better now!!

Soft?

There was a point, just after we scored and just before I switched off, where CSKA countered and had a major overload on us. Their player was on the right and just had to lift the ball forward to put us in deep shit. Eriksen snuffed him out and won the ball back. That, for me, was a key moment in the game. Had he been "soft" I'm pretty sure they would have scored. It was probably the most important tackle of the game and largely went unnoticed because it snuffed out a serious attack before it really got started.

Soft? Pah!

Unfortunately I missed the game. Very happy we got the win and it sounds like a decent performance considering. Lose or draw that and we don't half have our work cut out for us. Beat Leverkusen away and we will be setting ourselves up very nicely.
