This tragedy he speaks of is only because of the amount of money they all spend.

It's also the reason spurs are able to go the whole season with no one taking us seriously at title contenders even though we've been constantly better than everyone over 2 seasons.

Most teams are littered with record signings that have been pants, Utd and city spent 320million between them last year and look where it got them.

in this current market Ali and Kane Are probably worth 80- 120 million each and what did we pay?

one player doesn't make a team

Conte is right Unfortunately in today's Market the more u spend it seems that the better you do, going from 3rd to 2nd is a big feet but it has come at the cost of us not winning a thing getting knocked out of Cups etc, as a poster said earlier whats wrong with adding some depth.

Know one is saying you must buy a 70 Million player or a 50 Million player but we sold a Fullback in Walker can't we say take 40 Million of that money.and buy two 20 Million players, not saying invest just to invest but yes we can try and be active in the Transfer Market No ?

If Poch thinks we have the players in the youth set up to step up then why waste 40m + wages, I'd rather hold onto the cash unit we find someone worth spending it on.

lol so he says you need expensive signings, but his dream signing is Kane, a player who cost us nothing.

he should look through the 5000 kids he's got out on loan.

I agree mate...I might not like what he said but I struggle to understand what our expectations are.

Really? It's not that difficult if you just listen to what the club chairman and manager are telling you every time they comment on it.

What a classless interview. Chelsea fans will lap it up though so I suppose he'll get his desired result.

To be fair, when you've spent over £100m in signings it IS a tragedy if your team don't qualify for CL or get knocked out in the early rounds.

What he's done is put more pressure on the other big spenders, and himself.

He's scared. The quiet ones are the dangerous ones. We're not loud like the Citys, Uniteds and Chelseas of this world. We don't go flashing the cash for overpriced players trying to buy our way to success and we don't expect the media to fight our battles for us. We're understated and not expected to challenge. We're the underdogs of the big clubs. That's what he's afraid of.

He's absolutely right. If you have a squad this good and your only aim is to tread water... We've only won one pot this century and that's nowhere near good enough.

If Conte thinks he can get in the head of Poch and that Harry Kane would contemplate going to Chelsea then oh dear is he deluded. In the mind games stakes he is clearly no Mourinho

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Rather saddened by this article.....shows Conte as just another Pep or Mourinho...."Success has to be bought" philosophy.....always had him down as different to the other two.
Would dearly love to prove them all wrong next season !
I wouldn't be surprised if it rankles with him a bit that Poch gets plaudits for developing players whilst the inference with big spending coaches is that they are buying success. I guess that all managers or head coaches want to be seen as 'complete' in that they can buy big name players as well as helping to develop players through the ranks. Not saying that Poch is a 'complete' manager either because he hasn't won anything yet but I did get the impression that the coverage/plaudits that Spurs got under Poch last season did rankle a bit with Conte. Might be wrong.

Someone posted on this site at some stage last season that Conte was a reasonable person by Chelscum standards, but I assumed that, after a year or two at Nazi Central, he'd be in full-on Chelscum **** mode. I'm not having a dig at fellow SC posters and I definitely don't take any pleasure from events proving my assumption to be correct. Well, we can't be surprised, can we?

I question his hair, syrup wearing ponce.

I question whether he is allowed to be within 100 yards of a child! The missus saw him on tv last year and just went "eurgh he is well creepy, looks like a pedo!" Ah I love her!!

Despise Conte, he is much more of a disrespectful gobshite than I thought he'd be when he arrived. I think he's actually worse than Mourinho at times.

There are so many responses we could say to make him look like a dick but sadly Poch is above all that

Let's get this straight...Likes of Mourinho & Conte are talking about us now because they know we are the real threat going forward.

Gone were the years when we were a non entity. Now we matter. That is something we should welcome.

Now we do something they say that can't be done. Stick the article in the dressing room, use that as inspiration & win that title.
