Undortuneatly he does have a point, the most successful clubs in the world are the richest, I believe we don't have to get any major signings but we do need depth so we will have to spend. If we get success out players will want more money, what ever way u look at it to be successful u need money, or patience I'm an BSoDL and I have no problems saying this.

The most blatant, lazy, old school and naff attempt at unsettling a player that I've ever seen.

Step 1: Wax lyrical about player.
Step 2: Diminish reputation & ambition of his current club.
Step 3: Let said player & media infer the rest.

i.e - I really, really like you & would sign you if you were "available". You're not currently but IF you were to ever become "unhappy" where you are then I can make it worth your while throwing your toys out of the pram.

It might have worked in the old days on a certain kind of player. It isn't going to work now & certainly not on Harry Kane.

Absolutely laughable. Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeext.

I would love poch to turn the screw back, just say he thinks Diego Costa is one of the best striker, that Chelsea are about to lose due to poor man management.

"Every team has to understand what their ambitions are. If their ambitions are to fight for the title or try to win the Champions League, you must buy expensive players. Otherwise you continue to stay in your level. It's simple."

So we haven't spent (relatively speaking) the last 2 years and have finished 2 and 3 and was the only team to challenge the eventual champions, I'd be okay with staying at that level

Poch is a throwback to the days when managers were gentlemen like our Nick, Ron Greenwood and sir Matt.

The point is he misunderstood Levy's criticism of unsustainable transfer spending - you can't spend more than you earn. Where is FFP after all?
Conte does not pay for ambitions but Levy does. So he confused good financial management with lack of ambitions. Tha's how I see it.
He should shut up and concentrate on his club football, and leave money matters to professionals.

Conte is right Unfortunately in today's Market the more u spend it seems that the better you do, going from 3rd to 2nd is a big feet but it has come at the cost of us not winning a thing getting knocked out of Cups etc, as a poster said earlier whats wrong with adding some depth.

Know one is saying you must buy a 70 Million player or a 50 Million player but we sold a Fullback in Walker can't we say take 40 Million of that money.and buy two 20 Million players, not saying invest just to invest but yes we can try and be active in the Transfer Market No ?

Not classy to talk about other teams' players like that. But expected, as he's the manager of a club that has no class whatsoever.

We do need to be adding some depth, tho. Some of Levy's comments about "we haven't found a player that we want but can't afford" are silly, and I think he's been great for the club. We've got a good squad, Sure, but of course it can be improved, and for sensible money too.

It's precisely now, when we're in the CL, playing at Wembley, about to move to a new stadium, with world class facilities, that we can attract better players, so we should take advantage of that.

"Every team has to understand what their ambitions are. If their ambitions are to fight for the title or try to win the Champions League, you must buy expensive players. Otherwise you continue to stay in your level. It's simple."

"My question is this: What are Tottenham's expectations?"

And this is where he's wrong. Spurs HAVE expensive players, except they didn't pay the expensive fees.

Vertonghen/Alderweireld, Dier, Rose, Alli and Kane are the best (or in the top 3 at worst) in their position in the league. In addition, Eriksen, Lloris and Dembele will be top 5 in their position.

So Spurs do not have to 'buy expensive players' this time around. The side needs depth. 8/10 players to replace the 9/10 First XI when changes need to be made. Either that, or 6/10 players who can become 8/10 (or more) players during the season. Spurs clearly cannot go out and spend 75m on a forward who won't be first choice and finding better than the names I've listed above is not going to happen.

The only issue is replacing Walker. Trippier is decent - not as fast, maybe better defensively, and has better delivery - but Walker was the best in the league. However, bringing in someone to keep Trippier at #2 is not a great policy. Having someone compete with him for #1 is much better. Similar to last season with Rose/Davies and Walker/Trippier. There are plenty of games to play...

In short. I don't think Conte understood the question, but overall he should be quiet about clubs with a different mindset. If he wants to talk, perhaps it should be about Man Utd or Man City.

There is nothing to say we are not going to buy players, ITK suggests we might buy 3 or 4. At the moment we can 't spend as much as some of our rivals, but that has not held us back. What else can ****e say, he has to justify his spending.

But boy will he look stupid if we turn them over at Wembley. He just gave Poch added incentive. If they have a few injuries and European football he will be spending big in January, and if they flop he will be back in Italy looking for another pay day.

I agree mate...I might not like what he said but I struggle to understand what our expectations are.

Our expectations are to win every game. If we can't win then to not lose. The last two seasons do not prove our expectations?
