It’s not a favour. It massively helps their FFP.
This is my personal main reason for not loving this deal. It's definitely petty and maybe straying into "cutting off one's nose to spite one's face" territory, but I don't want us to do anything that helps Chelsea out with their FFP model.

On a personal note this is one I wouldn’t be that upset about if it didn’t happen. However, from previous ITK, he was one of the players Ange asked for along with Maddison. So if Ange rates him that highly then let’s go get him.

He's also one that could be had late, since it's not like Chelsea is going to want to hold on to him bc they didn't have time to replace him.

The Spurs transfer window in a nutshell. Start with dreams of signing world class players (Laporte, Vlhahovic, Chiesa), downgrade expectations to solid reinforcements (Tapsoba, Kudus, Amrabat), pray for opportunistic signings (Tosin, Gallagher, Johnson), resign yourself to a quiet deadline day.

Loved watching him at Palace. Very dynamic 8. Haven't really seen him used the same way at Chelsea. But then again, they've been a hot mess for the last year.

I think it would mean that Skippy would become cover for Biss. Meanwhile, Gallagher is capable of playing either in Madders role or Sarr. He would also chip in with a handful of goals in Ange's system. High energy player. Homegrown and a good fit with our style of play. I'd personally be really happy for him to join.

But I also understand how he might not be what others were hoping for.

That said - it's moot. As it's impossible at this stage to see that happening, unless it is a loan with an obligation.

Gallagher is a good player, but I would assume that Ange is impressed with his overall work-rate, so he would improve our squad. He literally doesn't stop running. I know some might make a similar statement about Skipp, but lets be honest, he spends more time chasing shadows, while Gallagher will upset the opposition when they have the ball and also make himself available to receive in advanced areas of the pitch. Honestly can't see Levy spending the money though, possibly more hance that we offer a sneaky loan up front with option to buy at best. Chelsea don't need the money, so extremely unlikely.

He's a current England international, I think he'd be good in this squad. Possibly too late now but if we do manage to get a deal over the line I'd be happy with the deal.

Is it a possibility that Gallagher might reject a move to us because he's a Chelsea fan and he might not want the potential backlash? Has there been a direct transfer between us since Cudicini?

I rate Gallagher and think he’d be very good in Ange’s system, but let’s be honest here, I’d be shocked if we made even one signing before 11pm tomorrow night, and that will be an overpay for Johnson.

Quick update: We've started talks with Chelsea for Gallagher tonight. They're looking at 45 million plus potential add-ons, pending Hojbjerg's departure. The discussions are ongoing and haven't progressed significantly yet. Deal in stage unlikely right now

Very reasonable price.

Would suit our football perfectly. The guy ran the show for Palace playing a more advanced role and has the engine needed.

Benta was great as an 8, but it will be a while until he's back. He can also slot in deeper if needed.

Sarr will still see minutes , and Skipp, sadly, just isn't good enough.

Add the fact he's homegrown 👌🏻

This guy is respected by Chelsea fans

Why would they pull him from a photo shoot? Just take the pictures. If he leaves - delete them, if he stays - use them. Much easier to do than not take any pictures then have to re-arrange to take them when he’s still there after the window has closed.
