Eze would be 60m, Gallagher 45 and we sell Hojbjerg for 25-35, who is the inflated player here ?
Eze is potentially 15m better in my opinion. But if we're going to pay homegrown premium let's not give it to Chelsea who like I say need player sales to balance their circa 800m recent spend.

I'm already annoyed that Arsenal and Utd have bought Mount and Havertz for a combined 120m. Looks like Chelsea are laughing as neither player looks remotely worth that.

Is it any different to £50 mil for Johnson? Kind of feel both are overpriced

There's hardly any value in signing PL players now. We've pretty much worked miracles getting Bissouma and Maddison at the prices we did.

The club are much better off getting players from europe and then for HG players integrating academy players and signing Championship talents (like we've done with Phillips, should have signed Alex Scott too).

Otherwise we end up having to go for bang average players like Gallagher for £50 million!

Instead of Johnson, go and sign Bakayoko from PSV for £25m. Much better value for money imo and better suited for Ange's system.

Instead of Gallagher, sign Federico Redondo, again he'd cost half what Gallagher will (at most!) and has a much higher ceiling.

Sure these players might not make it but Gallagher and Johnson are hardly superstars, they've got very limited ceilings imo.

I agree Gallagher is bang average but so is Skipp. Many thought he'd be our future captain. And foreigners who've never played in the PL are a gamble, look at N'Dombo.
What happened to our Zaha links?

Wait, let me get this straight……Brennan Johnson at the age of 22 with some of the best physical attributes as a winger in the league has a very limited ceiling coming off 9 goals in his first year in the Premier League. Yet, you determined a kid playing in one of the most open leagues in the world at relatively the same age range is a better option when his production was less on a top team in an easier league?

These types of takes are laughable.

I don't think this one happens but I also think we'd manage without PEH until January.

I also think Gallagher would be great under Ange and gives us something a tad different than what we have.

Obviously I would hope we could sort out Johnson and a CB of any sorts first, but this would be a nice bonus.

Hojbjerg out and Gallagher in would be an real upgrade with Ange style of play. Then in Jan when Bentancur is back we can play on selling Skipp
Just the time when Sarr and Bissouma are away at AFCON. I can't see us selling Skipp this season.

Gallagher would be allowed to leave Chelsea for around £50m. #Tottenham are keen if they can offload Højbjerg.

At the start of the window I thought that £50m was ridiculous, but now I'm not so sure. I think there's been a massive shift in the market this year, with values skyrocketing.

At £50m and homegrown I think this move would actually prove to be good value. Is been said before, but he is a massive massive improvement on what we've been trying to get Skipp to do. Would get a rake of goals crashing into the box. I'm very much behind the deal now.

I like him but I feel like he'd be getting in the way of Sarr who has a way higher ceiling. We also have Bentancur in the wings too. I don't think he's good enough as a 10 to back up Madders either.

Quite.

Or we sell Hojbjerg to Utd and then subsequently get shafted by Chelsea after being led a merry dance.
United are skint. They can’t afford Amrabat, we aren’t going to help them out on the cheap.

You forgot to mention Nico Williams and his release clause fee.

I agree with you. For me, the bigger thing though is we’re in only two comps this season. One game a week pretty much except during the festive period. I feel like what must be priority is getting rid of a lot of players and trimming the squad so we can focus on adding fewer, but higher quality players next summer when we’re hopefully back in Europe. Gallagher is fine, and does fit the 8 role very well, but then as you said, Sarr and Bentancur are two top players as well who need to play who also fit that role well. A bigger concern for me is getting a viable Maddison backup as you alluded to.

I agree with you when you look at the squad holistically and potential deals. Lots of what ifs but if you remove the deadline day element out of everything:

Johnson (22), Gallagher (23), Tosin (25) in for any combo of PEH (28), Dier (30), Sanchez (27), Tanganga (24) out

We get younger, we replace expiring contracts, and we add at least net 2 HG players which gets ahead of a potential problem if we make it back to Europe next season. The moves would allow greater flexibility for upcoming transfer windows, which I think is important and some of us forget that.
