Not that I think it is likely at all, and if Hojbjerg was to leave I still feel that we would need a CM with a bit more defensive nous in our squad.... however, after seeing how Ange plays now in a few games, I wouldn't be against signing Gallagher. I think his energy and comfort on the ball would work in this system.

Had a feeling this would come back around after all the talk of the HG necessity.

Yeah me to. It was said by someone (might have been Gold) that if Hojbjerg went he would be allowed to bring in a player he really wants. Must be Gallagher. Not sure it is the right move and Hojbjerg doesnt seem to be going anywhere right now.

I feel like Bentancur and Bissouma could both play in both the #6 and #8 positions. Sarr gets minutes as the rotational option (because Bentancur will not be at his best immediately) whilst we likely need someone else to rotate with Maddison.

For that reason, I'm not convinced on Gallagher unless we really have to go for him because of HG rules. Would far rather see a late move for Hatate.

There's no way this happens now.

It's going to be a WF and that’s your lot.

In the next 24 hours (or however, long is left) I expect us to sell 9 players and bring in 4/5 players.

This is based on how the club have never failed to deliver on there promises.

I will probably get alot of hate for saying this but I guess sarcasm is hard to read.

I know there's little chance but there seems to be a lot of dominoes connected currently (get out your tin foil hats lol)

Cole Palmer just confirmed to Chelsea -> can play winger but also CAM/CM in a 3
Joao Felix from Atletico to Barca -> Barca need to make moves to accommodate
Carrasco from Atletico to Saudi -> strong rumors currently

Insert our links and it makes sense:
Fati from Barca to Us -> helps Barca get Felix
PEH to Atletico -> links cooled off but if they can offload Felix/Carrasco they may have the funds to spend
If PEH goes + Palmer signing -> Chelsea tempted by an offer from us for Gallagher?

There's also the GLC to Barca rumors floating in the background still.

In terms of the signing itsself, it MAY leave us a little bit short at the 6, but it is a transitional season. Although many made their minds up about Skipp, he simply has to develop as a 6 or an 8 this season or else his future looks cloudy. so I could see a depth chart of:

10: Maddison, Gallagher
8: Sarr, Bentancur, Skipp, Gallagher
6: Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp

Palmer is the new attacker they want, won’t have any impact on Gallagher.

When was the last time we bought a player from from one of the “big six”? Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea etc do some trading between each other but I can’t remember us buying a player from any of them since the Redknapp days. Possibly because we don’t like shopping at their prices.

I can't remember a single one honestly. Cudicini on a free. Gallas on a free.

The only reason I could fathom it is because it ties in with ITK that we believe we have a decent HG pipeline coming up in a few seasons, but we're screwed (as usual) in present times. If we have a good season and got back into UCL next season, we'd have little/no HG or club trained players.

So for me, that ties into the links to Johnson, Tosin, and Gallagher.

Personally I pray Kulu is 10 else agree.

Gallagher isn’t that.

I agree. Gallagher isn't a traditional 10, probably best in Sarr's role. I would even argue that Sarr is already a better ball advancing b2b midfielder than Gallagher. But where Gallagher is good is that he works hard defensively, yet arrives in the box to support crosses and the ST.

If you watch how he got his goals at Crystal Palace, it's easy to see why the reports that Ange likes him make a lot of sense. I think he'd get a lot of goals in his system while not sacrificing defensive balance.

All moot point since very little chance we get him, but probably why I'm more excited by the link than most.
