People rating Scott and Hatate better but Gallagher would also tear it up in the EFL or SPL. Agree that he isn’t most exciting but for right price I think he would be ok.

He excels at high energy pressing and breaking into the box and scoring goals from the no.8 position. I’m personally not hugely keen but he definitely has qualities that fit with Ange’ system.

He’s absolutely terrorised us playing for both WBA and Palace in the past and is an England international. It’s not some mid table no body that we’re targeting.

That's fair enough. I don't know enough about him to have a strong opinion. But it seems plausible that Chelsea will add "Tottenham tax" to the fee if they agree to sell him to us. This begs the question, is there better value elsewhere? I guess Chelsea might be desperate to sell him, but again, I am sure they would prefer not to sell him to us of all teams unless they really don't rate him.

I wouldn't be unhappy if we sign him, but it doesn't seem like an easy deal.

I'd rather have Gallagher than Hojbjerg. And rather him than Hatate. But I'd rather have Scott.

If we do not fall short in the center defense position I'd be fine to get him in.

Well there Alex Scott for example
He is more of a n.o10 more attacking than Gallagher, playing Scott and Maddison might leave us too open, Gallagher and Maddison as the n.o8's has more balance to it although I do think Scott is a serious talent so if Ange thinks he can make it work then yes I'd prefer him over Gallagher just.

Just speaking to an avid footy fan and Crystal Palace season ticket holder I work with.

He thinks Gallagher is good enough for Spurs - but only if he is used in the 'correct' way which is an attacking midfielder that is almost a second striker. That is where his best form came from at Palace.

So thinks it would be a strange buy after Maddison.

He said he's not good enough for a CM2 and would certainly need a disciplined defensive player in CM if we were to want to play him deeper.

Said he wouldn't want Palace to pay more than £35 million at the very, very most

I do wonder if he is an option as a sort of foil for Harry.

To explain, we will want to be on the front foot and high pressing , something Harry would struggle with.

If you have Gallagher as a high number 8 he can do Harry's pressing as Harry drops a bit deeper .

He clearly didn't watch much of his own team then lol. Na just joking mate thanks for sharing.

Gallagher played mostly as a box to box n.o 8 in a 4-3-3 for Palace, only times he played as a 2nd striker was in away matches when they pressed in a 4-4-2.

I do agree with the last part though that he won't work in a 'CM2' but we won't play a 'CM2' under Ange so don't need to worry about that, it'll be 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 variant of 4-3-3 with the players close together mostly likely a 6 and 2x 8's.

Gallagher would suit us really nicely.

When was the last time Chelsea sold to us? Knowing the ridiculous sums they pay for players, and also given how much they just fleeced United for Mason Mount who plays in a similar AM position to Gallagher, I just can't see us offering them a price that they would be prepared to accept from their most hated rival.

I like Gallagher, but like so many others are saying, there must be better value and more attainable options elsewhere

Tbf, we don't know if something changed here with the new owners on board.

If the manager wants him then that's the important thing.

It might not work out and the experts on here will tell us it was dead obvious because he's shit.

But backing the manager is getting the players in he wants to implement his vision.

Simple as that.

Also people need to get over this obsession with Alex Scott - an extremely talented player, no doubt, and one I'd like to have at Spurs. But he's being glorified on here like it is dead certain he's going to be the next Xavi or something.

Both teams out of Europe, they have new owners and need to sell for FFP and he is hardly been a huge player for them like Mount was etc so whilst unlikely I could see it potentially happening in theory although I don't see why Poch wouldn't want him as he'd suit how Poch plays quite well.

Alot of snobbery going on here re: Gallagher and hard to gauge any competence at Chelsea last year for any of their personnel.

At Palace he looked a real talent and whilst i'm not necessarily advocating him for Tottenham or indeed splashing out anywhere near £50m on him, we need to stop with this attitude of thinking we know best compared to what Ange actually wants from new recruits; be it application in his system and the correct mentality to thrive.

People on here are a joke. Happens every time. It's always 'lets back the manager' until it's someone they don't like.

From what I see, people are just expressing their opinion over whether they think he would be a good buy or not. I haven't seen any posts suggesting Ange shouldn't be backed?

Agree. It’s bizarre. Maybe he is good on FIFA or FM or something?

As I alluded to above, I don't see a problem with people discussing the pros and cons of transfer targets. It's a football discussion forum, after all. It's not like fans aren't backing Ange by discussing whether they think it would be a good transfer.
