Chelsea do have unlimited funds but it's no excuse.

Think about the players we've bought. Sanchez, Doherty, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon, Hojbjerg...

How much did all that cost? Close to 200m?

The truth is we've just invested poorly. For whatever reason, we have technically limited players, players who don't have much football IQ or quality.

Chelsea have wasted money too. Kepa and Werner spring to mind. But they've made some smart signings too. Rudiger, Sarr, Azpilicueta weren't too expensive.

This game has highlighted just how poor our fullbacks are. Awful passing, no good crosses, not strong or quick enough to consistently defend. For such an important part of the modern game, we really have some terrible options outside of Reguilón.
