These are exactly the kind of decisions VAR was brought in for.

In the strict sense yes I agree - my point was that incident is not a justification for VAR. Its as if the linesman put his flag up after the goal knowing it would be referred to VAR anyways but just stuck it up to cover his back. That wasnt even being close to offside

Because officiating has gone down several levels in recent years, domestically and in Europe.

There's a hard core top echelon in football that always benefits from referee's decisions.

They are frightened a day/or in awe of those clubs or something more sinister.

Current stats show that united have had 19% of the possession so far. Imagine a team like united having such low stats at home.

It is though. There was a very bad decision that VAR corrected. It was a quick and easy decision. It shouldn't be used for debatable decisions.

He didn't need to put up the flag if he knew VAR would have sorted it out. He obviously thought he was off.

No he isnt close I agree - Messi is quite behind him imvho

I concur with your agreement on tearing Manure 5 or 6

They’re both incredible footballers, but Messi is better. Ronnie is a superb athlete who is consistently knocking in ridiculous goals, but Messi has consistent scoring, along with a lightning fast footballing brain, magical skills almost beyond comprehension, and perhaps most importantly is a team player.

We’re all very lucky to be around to debate this. They’ll both go down as titans of the game. Messi is the unstoppable force to Ronaldo’s immovable object.

I don't blame Smalling for the need to 'rough' Messi up a bit but don't give us this fucking guff that he didn't mean it - it was cynical.

I agree that he put his flag up to cover his ass. Its an easy thing to now knowing that VAR will review every goal.
