Can we take a moment to laugh heartily at Everton?

Nothing makes you sound like an old fart more than moaning about what young people wear. Who cares what he wears, or what he drives. Lampard is spot on.

Hoddle on dangerous ground there…

Nothing new, though. Club legend or not, he's full of shit when it comes to beliefs/opinion.

"You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains," he told the Times newspaper. "Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow you reap."

Horrible opinion & you have to be a Horrible person to even think in such a way.

I can never forgive him for that quote, my step daughter was severely disabled (she passed just before Xmas)
Lost all respect & admiration for him after that quote (Cassie was the most amazing person I've ever had the honour to know & love)
He's also got this call wrong, Dele can wear what he wants & drive what he wants, his life, his career

I wonder if Glenn would approve. (It's Tom Davies. Everton Midfielder.)

Players have been getting shit for their dress sense for the last 20 odd years. Who cares.

I think what annoys me is that when the media mention a players car or clothes or house or lifestyle in a "Nah i don't like that" context, it always seems to be about non-white players, and coming from white journalists and pundits. Coincendence or subconscious racial connotations? If I can see it as a old white man, how can these allegedly intelligent, well paid white ex players not see it?

It stinks of the changed headlines with Megan and Kate doing identical things like holding their bump too.

I kinda agree about the Rolls, unless you're incredibly successful (which Dele is not) you just look like an idiot.

But it's his car. Should he go out and buy a Ford Fiesta just so he can appear humble?

What car did Ozil drive? Why wasn't that critiqued and analysed when he was doing nothing and on 3x the wages Dele is?

I know what you mean but in the case of Alli I’m not so sure. There’s always been this accusation of him being distracted by other things hence his decline. It’s like he has that party boy tag. He also games and has his own clothing line.

I don’t read pieces like that so can’t say I’ve noticed a trend but from a public point of view, Bale, Beckham and Bellarin stick out to me as getting a load of stick for the same reasons.

Basically in this country we don’t like people being flash or getting ahead of themselves.

Thats a good point so maybe it isnt racially motivated. Plenty of players have had the party boy tag attached to them, and yet you dont see pictures of Dele getting lashed up and unable to walk so where does this image come from? Plenty of players have other diverse income streams. Clothes, fragrance, jewelry and so on. Why are those few singled out for criticism of it? Imo its just lazy journalism. Poor form means they don't care about football anymore which is absolute rubbish. If Dele didn't care about footy, why did he spend his summer at a fitness facility instead of a bar in the bahamas?

I'm not having a go at anyone (apart from the talkshite trio as they should know better quite frankly), I'm genuinely interested in why some players get this treatment and others don't.

I didn't say Dele needs to appear humble and it's nothing to do with price, he should spend it and enjoy the fruits of his labour.

I strongly believe everyone looks like an idiot in a Rolls unless they're hyper successful. Dele, whilst well remunerated has done the square root of fuck all in his chosen field. I would think no differently if it were Kane, Dier, Skipp, Winks or Sonny, they'd look like idiots. I wouldn't think that if it were Lloris (world cup), Sterling (PL x 3, FA Cup, LC x4), Mane (AFCON, PL, CL, CWC) or Cristiano (CL x 5 and loads more).

I don't think it should be bought up in the media, it's pointless, unnecessary and smacks of jealousy but if I saw Dele in his Rolls on the roundabouts of Milton Keynes I'd think idiot.

Yeah to be fair if I see ANYONE in a Rolls, my first thought is "wanker", but I'll fully accept it's probably just petty envy.

Fuck race. And fuck religion while you're there. Doesn't matter if it's fucking Snoop Dogg saying he likes white sugar, or Alan fucking Carr saying he likes brown sugar.

Some fucking jobsworth is gonna pipe up & say "well that's racist". Fuck & off!

Some people are rich, some people are poor. Some people are black, some people are yellow. Some people are white, some people are brown. Some people are lovely, some people are ****s.

Too many are trying to be this gender, that gender, no fucking gender. Too black, not black enough.

Maybe if society could take a step back, look at itself & take stock of what's really important in life, things like respect, self worth, willingness to do for others, not because it's cool, but because it's the right thing to do.

Fucking horrible world!

Indeed. Btw I only meant the party boy thing as an example, I don’t think he has that label himself.

Wasn’t he recently on twitch or something while we were playing? Feels like he’s just a young kid that needs guidance tbh.
