Makes sense - a good alternative to Celso or a way of getting them to negotiate on price

Bruno Fernandes was almost dismissed at Manchester United by the international sports press, but his English rival sent emissary to Portugal. Tottenham sent an emissary to Lisbon to negotiate the transfer of Sporting player Bruno Fernandes. The news was advanced by RTP this Thursday and confirmed by THE GAME. In the meantime, we learned that Tottenham had already presented a proposal of about 45 million euros, which was rejected by the Sporting administration, by Miguel Pinho, the manager of the player. Meanwhile, the English team, whose interest in the player had already been reported in June, sent an emissary who, along with Miguel Pinho, will try to find a way of understanding with Frederico Varandas. We remind you that the leader recently said that the player does not leave "neither for 55 nor for 62 million euros".

Personally didn't realise The Game did transfer reporting, to be fair he hasn't had a good album since the documentary so can see why he's branching out.

Lot of nonsense seems to emanate from the portuguese press. If I remember correctly, think JJ also mentioned he isn't someone we are looking to pursue.

I consulted my media whore friends at Sport Witness about RTP because I haven’t recalled them come out with the shit all the other outlets (e.g. O Jogo) have and they said this:

With that being said, JJ has ruled this out so probably nothing in it.

personally i wouldn't trust the portuguese press if they said they were portuguese. they've been hawking fernandes about all summer. I'm convinced no-one is even in for him.

I think it's prudent to stick by what JJ said but I did get the impression from reports that we had a look at him and then decided other targets were better.

Yeah if there is one publication in Portugal that can generally be trusted it's RTP. They don't get involved in rumours, just solid reports.

So either we are generally interested and have moved on from Lo Celso, or, more likely, have confirmed our interest to Sporting in the hope that it puts the shits up Betis.

By the way the report on RTP claims we have reps in Lisbon to negotiate the deal.

I'm free this afternoon, maybe I need to go on a scoop as I live there?!

O Jogo & A Bola are pretty bad for getting things right.

The question will be...have they lifted this report from RTP or the other way round.

I haven't seen much of this guy, but I always get a vibe from him that he would flop over here every time I see him. Much rather GLC.

Not saying we are interested in Fernándes, but with the GLC situation dragging on its not unrealistic to think that we'd become interested in Fernandes as an alternative option

Just to back up the claims that RTP are reliable, here are a few screenshots from the Reddit thread (irrelevant comments hidden so as to fit relevant comments in the screenshots):

Yeah I thought it was bullshit until I saw 2/3, O jogo was just the one I bothered to translate, looks to me like they're getting it from RTP, find it strange this has come out at the exact same time as the Lo Celso info. I don't think this one will happen unless Eriksen left for what it's worth. I don't see him as an alternative to Lo Celso.
