That was a masterclass fight by Joshua. He did everything he needed to do against a fighter of Ruiz's stature and ability. Joshua kept his feet moving, and fought from the outside, where he could not get touched by Ruiz's power. My one criticism is that Joshua would get himself into trouble trying to clinch. He wasn't clinching with any conviction, and got caught with some shots. I know some would think that fight was boring, but I was very entertained, because Joshua showed some serious boxing skills. Such a smart game plan.

Some boxing fans think boxing is like Rocky. The tactical side of the sport just doesn't occur to them.
It's like calling a football win shit because none of the goals were overhead kicks.
Its quite odd.

Don't have a problem with the way AJ fought tonight at all, not to mention Ruiz ate some pretty big shots also and he looks extremely tough to bring down.

Only thing that annoys me is the reaction to a possible third fight. Of course AJ and Hearn want a third fight, anything other than Wilder or Fury ?

As someone who knows next to nothing about boxing, I enjoyed that, it was different to some of the fights where the participants barely lay a glove on each other and just dance around hugging themselves.

The chubby fellow paid the price for living high off the hog and eating too many churros, but fair play to him, he's put himself in line for a few decent paydays. As for AJ, one worries that he could get sparked by almost anyone with a decent dig on him, at any moment of a fight. He'll lose again and win again etc etc, it's going to be an entertaining few years for the big boys.

Oh and Bellew is a chipmunk faced twat.

When I care about a fight I find myself very tense. I watch closely and see how the points are looking as this can affect how each fighter approaches the later rounds.

Ruiz is over 50lbs heavier and can bully AJ. AJ knew this and adjusted his style. I felt the pressure was on Ruiz to unload more in later rounds but he couldn't do it. Some are interpreting this as a dull performance by AJ, I disagree.

Really want to see AJ vs TF.
Not having huge boxing knowledge you do we think would win? Tyson for me think his style would be all wrong for AJ??

Ruiz is a good boxer and before tonight had a better record than AJ not all boxers need to be ripped

I agree. The only problem I have with Ruiz, is that he didn't seize upon this opportunity. He seemed to get a bit distracted (at least that has been the story over here in the States) by the fame/limelight. He could have tried to work on his conditioning, but reports say that he was not careful with his diet.

I honestly do not know. If Joshua keeps fighting like he did today (working off his jab and moving his feet), then I think the fight would favor Joshua. Fury is a very good boxer, but needs to stay fit to be effective. It really could go either way.

I want to see Wilder vs Joshua. Wilder has some crazy power and is built more like Joshua now (a bit more lean). The reason why I'd like to see it, is because Wilder can get wild, and that could lend to some crazy power shots being landed by both.

Would be an interesting fight. If AJ starts quickly and goes for it he would have every chance. But my feeling is he would be a bit cautious and once it becomes a boxing match Fury has the tactical knowledge to outpoint him.

I couldn't agree more, and you could see how effective a gameplan it was by AJ, by how frustrated Ruiz was getting the last few rounds. I honestly do not know why Ruiz didn't try to sell out for a knockout.

Obviously boxing has upsets, it only takes 1 hit to turn a fight. But, I think Fury has too much for AJ. Circus and personality aside, he is a clever fighter. Wilder too. I'd put both those ahead of Joshua. Although, from a personal perspective, Joshua is the one I'd like to see at the top.

I've put on less weight than he has in the last six months and ive basically been solely sat down eating cheese for 12 hours a day.

And some people don't like getting hit in the ring or in life. AJ got put down 4 times he should have corrected that where's his pride?

Good for people if they like the tactical side it exists in the sport for those guys that just don't have the jaw for a good dust up you don't see any of the Mexicans hiding in the corners

How many Mexican heavy weight champions have there been? Tactics for a reason.

The lighter weight divisions have more entertainment in terms of punching and 'action',? Or UFC? Heavy weight division has always been slower and more tactical.

His pride was in winning back the belt, after the upset, and in changing up how he approached the fight. If he'd gone in all guns blazing like you want, Ruiz probably would have floored him again.

Mexican fighters fight tactically all the time. Good boxers facing harder hitters will outbox their opponent otherwise they get knocked out.

This is the first time I have ever interacted with you and will be the last.
