Its not results like today that are costing us a place in the top four its the ealier season results that are the home defeat to Wigan and away defeat to West Ham. Had we won those two we would be 2nd or third in the league.
The home defeat to Wigan especially. Ugly or pretty, we need to maximise home points.

Which would be a good idea if crouch wasn't so shit in the air when he is challenged!

He mistimed too many of his jumps today but that's nothing new.

Crouch is more valuable in our box sometimes. At least I think that's how Redknapp sees it. You may recall how he managed to deal with Samba a few wks ago when defending high balls into our box, for example.

I fully expected Crouch to play the entire game today, especially after Zigic was brought on. Not saying it was the right decision, however. Playing Crouch for 90 minutes rarely is.

Player for player we're a better side than them. We could have upped our game too (which we did when they equalised), but instead sat back and tried to defend a lead which we can never do, instead of going for the jugular. Deja fucking vu.

Not seen the game, but we are never going to reach the standard we want to until we can defend a lead by sitting back.

Despite not going for the jugular in the second half, we created enough opportunities to go further ahead. We were toothless up front today and too often we picked the wrong pass in the final third.

Defoe was awful. Less involved than Crouch but just as bad when he was, really.

Ina nutshell. Still work to do. Tweaks, imo but still needed. 2 or 3 players and we'll be lip-smackingly good.

Win ugly, you mean. I agree on that point but the thing is, today we didn't play badly. We let them back into it and should have been out of sight by the time they got their goal. Our strikers were shocking.

In my opinion, Harry prefers to leave Crouch on in these tricky away games to help defend set pieces.

The thing is, he's not really great at defending set pieces. Look at the Liverpool game and the goal we conceded, Crouch didn't get ahead of Skrtel and he ended up scoring after winning the first ball.

I'm sure there is others this season as well.

Yes, you are correct. But I bet you Redknapp leaves him on for this reason. We have a lot of midgets in our team-this much is probably not lost on Redknapp.

Dissappointed we didn't put that game to bed, but a point isn't a bad result - but with their mid week exertions showing I expected us to go on and get the second - and we should of.

A bit of perspective though, a point away at Birmingham is still a good point even if we should have won and its nowhere near as frustrating as losing to Wigan at home or even drawing with Sunderland at home.

On a brighter note I think Bale will eat up the Chelsea defence next week...great chance to beat them.

Pitty City and the Scum won but we are still well in the mix and 10 points from 12 is very good going.

Minor set back not winning today but its hardly anything major considering our recent form.

I'm only slightly disappointed because we played some great quality football in the first half, and had luck gone our way, we would have been 3 up half time.

Still a work in progress.

If Crouch is so good at heading corners, why doesn't he ever ever score from one?

Truth of the matter is, we're still only 3 points behind City but the manner in which we played in the 2nd half was very very dissapointing.

Giving the ball away and not holding it when we had it. There was one passage of play in the second half where we passed it well, the time where it ended with Lennon flicking it with the outside of his boot to Defoe with him not being able to hold off his marker and getting bullied off the ball, it left me wondering why that was the 1st time in the whole of the 2nd half we'd done that.

We let ourselves down today in my opinion.

Gotta say we surely lost the ball the most today with Ekotto... Most of his passing is just too hopeful. Was incredibly fruestrating.
