On Soccer AM this morning they ran this photo from the start of the 92/93 season (Premier League era)

They said they featured the best player from each team and for us they chose.... Gordon Durie (!)

I recognised the name but didn't even know he played for us. Sheringham got 18 goals that season, Durie got 3.

I'm a bit young to remember that season clearly but we still had Mabbutt, Thorsvedt, Barmby, Ruddock so bit of an odd choice.

Maybe someone thought he was going to be the best that season? Maybe he was the only one who could be bothered with the photoshoot?

Away from us, there's three hideous kits in a row that are really hurting my eyes there - Norwich, Wimbledon (?), Coventry

How many can we name without looking it up? I'm struggling for quite a few.

Back row next to Vinnie is Tony Daley, very nippy winger. Mark Wright the other side of Vinnie

Probably pre season promo picture, we didnt have many stars back then. Anderton and Barmby hadn't broken through yet, Sheringham in his first season for us.

Different definition of 'star' as well tbh. Before the Bosman ruling players had little power - there's also zero foreign players from outside the U.K. and ireland

The keeper in the middle row is our former keeper (albeit a very fresh faced version) Hans Segers

Front row I believe that is a young Gary Charles, David Speedy. No idea who the Boro player is. Looks like a fat stephen Hendry

I remember Durie well. I believe this were the "stars" that were expected to be good at the start of that season. Of course Durie never really stepped up to the plate, and departed the club at the end of that season.

Teddy was still at forest at the start of that season (scored first ever live sky goal against Liverpool) so wouldn't have been an option for our choice.

Hirst was absolutely brilliant at Wednesday - until that gooner **** Steve Bould broke his ankle. They had some really decent teams in the early 90s ... especially after Waddle came in from Marseille.

This was before my time (first season following football was 1995/96), so I'm going to go with Walter Tull being our pick of the 1992/93 season.
