No, this isn't about him being the only player in our squad that could get into Man Utd's, especially as that's not even true.

This is about him and his technical ability. I've been comparing him to the other world's best players, and I've come to the conclusion that he's probably got the best technical ability of all the players I've seen, at least that are playing now. I never really considered this, as I look at players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka and even Henry in his prime, but they all have so much more pace than Berba that they probably are (or were in Henry's case) better all round players, but as far as just technical ability goes, I'd say Berba's is greater.

I remember watching Henry at the Lane once and just being blown away by his touch and control. I never even dreamed I'd see someone play at WHL for us with even better touch and control just a few years later.

Is there a better player with better technical ability than Berba? Perhaps I've overlooked the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka. What do you think?

I know people rate Messi very highly, but I've barely seen him, so I've no idea about him really.

Flatters, as Berbati and I have told you you before - he's our best player :)

re technical skill he's right up there - as I've said on many a thread he's the classic Spurs artist - the very embodiment of the spirit of Greaves Hoddle and Ginola

and though he's not lightning quick - what separates him from our strikers that he's most like - Sheringham and Gilly - is that he's a lot faster than them -

Well he's not our best player. Ledley is, by a long way. But Berba's easily second.

I'm comparing him to the world's best players though. Is his control and technical ability the best there is at the moment?

The only player that i think you can compare Berbaking with is Ibrahimovic. Ignore how he played against Liverpool but his touch and scoring ability is defo on par with Berbs. They are the same height and build also. I'd take Berba over Zlatan though any day!

oh no he's not :)

seriously his technical ability is one of the main reasons why he is our best player (and should be player of the season :)

Its hard to say who is the better out of Berb and King.

If they are both fit and well and in good form 1 is a world class striker and 1 is a world class defender, it's hard to judge.

Technically Berbatov is superb and he has very few equals and especially so in the fast paced premiership. In La Liga and Serie A which are far more technical leagues you will find such players but it's difficult to know whether they could be so good in a faster pace.

Ronaldo is technically superb as is Messi and then lesser lights like Xavi and Iniesta but midfield players tend to get more time.

having thought about it there are very very few who have his techniacl ability.

His technical skills are comparable to Ronaldino, but he lacks Ronnie's explosiveness.

I can't think of anyone with better technical ability myself, and as you pointed out this ability compensates for his lack of pace - although he is by no means slow. the way he can pluck the ball out of the air and play the game at his own pace is incredible.

on the king vs berba debate, like legend says its hard to compare, i would say king is among the very best for his possition, but his injuries have really held him back for a while now, still looks class when he does play, but a bit off his peak i would say. atm berbs is our best player, if/when king shakes off his injury nighmares he will probably restablish himself as our best.

HIs technical ability is suberb, He is better then Zlatan is more clinical to berbie, but dosent have the same Touch/skill/vison, as well as Zlatan getting lost in faaar to many games!!

he has an incredible first touch, seems to pluck it out of the air with his peg like a lizard catching a fly.

Agreed. Ibrahimovic is a very similar player to Berba. Both of them have sublime touch and control, but Ibra is a better dribbler than Berba, though. I've seen him make some great runs and dribbles, something we don't see too much with Berbatov. Its hard to choose between the two, in my opinion.

While I don't want to rain on this Berba love parade I've got to say, that while Berbs is our best player, he isn't anymore skillful than the other top players in the league or the world.

Players who compare would be:

Eto'o
Torres
Quaresma
Messi
CRonaldo
Carrick
Kaka
Zlatan
many others

But of those I've mentioned which would you take over Berbs?

I'd swap Eto'o for Ronaldinho and Carrick for Diego of Werder Bremen and agree with all the others.

"I respect Spurs," Drogba added. "They have a world class player in Berbatov. I am a big fan of his and he is so skillful.

"His technique is there with (Zinedine) Zidane, (Cristiano) Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and (Thierry) Henry."

Flatters, Drogba seems to share your view :).

The problem with Berbatov is not his pace as he isn't any slower than Van Basten or RvN. The problem with him is that his confidence has been way lower than his ability. J. Kohler who played against Van Basten a lot of games says that Berbatov is no worse talent wise. It's up to him to live up to his marvelous talent. I'm certain he will do it.

Berbati...is it of your opinion that Berbatov will stay at Spurs now that we have qualified for the UEFA and won a cup? Seeing as you're best buddies and all...

On a side point Lennon takes the ball down over his shoulder better than any player I know except possibly Eto'o
