Surprised people aren't discussing his covert attendance more on here. Isn't he good mates with Ade? Can you imagine the conversations between them??

”So Benny, what did the fans have to say?'

”Erm...you might want to sit down for this mate LOL'

Would be more funny if it is benny starting the abuse chants at ade though

Getting rid is madness to me. I feel kind of sorry for him, over the last few years
he has built a brilliant partnership with Bale down the left but now
he's come back into a team where he has a new player in front of him - Gylfi / Dempsey
and new player to the side - Jan, a new player inside - Dembele. Heck even a new keeper
all in a new system, its gonna take time to build those working relationships or chemistry back up.

I love Benny and his laid back attitude.

That said though I reckon that relaxed demeanor is exactly why AVB doesn't favor him. Andre tends towards the die-hard, blood sweating, hundred percent commitment types. And Mr Disco doesn't (seemingly) fit in with that.

Yet, he keeps picking Ade though doesnt he?

Love the guy and he's improved remarkably since that gangly, headless chicken who first strutted out 7 yrs ago. There's only one man who will decide if he stays with us or goes though.

I'm hoping AVB sees a Spurs squad with Benny in it as stronger than one without him.

Here's hoping...I still think the odds are he leaves this summer if we get a good offer. For whatever reason.

What sort of mercenary stays for 7 years?

A well paid one!
Yes, fair enough point really. You could also be forgiven for pondering if his love of the club would be out of the window if a Yanited or Barca came knocking. He is a professional after all and that would be a hell of a promotion.

But, as he says, he doesn't indulge in that badge-kissing hypocrisy. I admire him for it.

As he says, it's a job ultimately but I don't doubt his sincerity in saying that he's become fond of the club having been here for so long and London, despite what moany fuckers everywhere bleat, is a bona fide world mega city. Much worse places to be whilst earning millions.

BAE and Ade are not really close friends, the stylist at that barbershop is a friend of mine, She says Bale used to hang out there a few times while BAE got his hair done. Would explain how good they played together as they were friends. him and Lloris are also friends.

Awww I wanna keep him.

In fact I just want to hang out with him.

Coolest mofo to wear the shirt in recent yrs, with perhaps the exception of Rafa.

Absolutely nothing to do with Rose for me. Purely Economics.

We brought him for a few million when he was young, develop and get some use out of him and then sell for a profit. The guy will turn 30 next season, and he has only two years on his contract, his value can only go down from now on and the way the club has to be run it is time to get what ever money we can for him.

Maybe harsh, but got to be done in my eyes.

But the money we would get for him would surely not be sufficient to pay for a replacement?

A bird in hand and all that...

Others have summed up Ekotto a thousand times, but for once more, he has good technique and can play a bit of football however he isn't outstanding at either end of the pitch really. He's been a good servant and definitely the best left back we have had in the 18 years I have been a fan but I don't think he is irreplaceable. I think we could command £7-8m for him and if the management/scouting team pull their fingers out they should be able to identify someone younger and cheaper (in other words not going for the established names rumoured such as Coentrao, Periera et al) and more importantly someone who is a better fit in a 4-3-3 (eg. a bit more pace, and a bit more threat going forward).

From ESPN:

He revealed that, during a frustrating four-month lay-off with a knee injury at the start of the season, he had watched home games incognito, sitting among the Tottenham fans.

"I now feel I have a better understanding of what it is to be a supporter and, for me, there are two types," he explained.

"There are the fans who pass judgment quickly - who say, from the comfort of their seats, how they would have cut the ball on the inside, swung the ball around or brought it down. It was like I was sitting with Messi, Ronaldo and Maradona.

"Then you have the other supporter, who understands the technical things a bit more and is patient. They are smaller in number, but they do exist."

I love the guy, easily my favourite player at the club.

However, I never rated him when he first came, I thought he was a terrible player but under Harry he turned into arguably the 2nd best LB in the EPL.

AVB needs to man managed players better. He might not train as hard as Naughton, but he is light years ahead of Naughton in every department. When Zidane was playing, he used to smoke cigarettes, I never saw any managers drop him because of his lack of professionalism.

Benny is a great FB. I want him at the club. He has been playing under an injury cloud. Watch him next season when he is fit. In Rose we have a great standby who can learn from Benny. You need at least 2-3 players in the FB positions. FB is probably one of the most demanding roles in the modern game.

Can't help feeling this is a swansong interview and he's off in the summer, sad really, he has been at the club during its most succesful era and made only a handful of mistakes, don't understand why anyone would want to see the back of someone this consistent.
