I wouldn't say it's sustainable for consistent success especially nowadays where the top teams are as string as ever. Spending more money just means higher expectations and pressure which inevitably means more manager and plater upheaval.

I think having more teams competing has helped to dilute the talent, so we don't end up with a La Liga situation. The problem is the wages. As long as teams can pay two or three times as much as we can on wages, we'll always be at risk of having our squad plundered.

I'd love to see a salary cap. Let the rich clubs spend millions on average players whilst we play it smart.

While money is important, I think we and others have shown just splashing the cash doesn't equal success.
The more clubs that have rich owners paying high wages, the harder it is for us to keep our players and the more teams we can't compete with in the transfer market.

Guardian reckon that Wenger is ready to sign a two year deal at Arsenal

I'd like to see a salary cap (and a transfer cap, while we're at it), but I know the money-bags clubs will get their lawyers and accountants to find loopholes, and they'll be allowed to get away with it.

I would love to see a salary cap too unfortunately because of EU law it is illegal to cap the amount a person can possibly earn or something. BUT I dont see why a total salary cap cant be implemented on the clubs. All clubs of a level serie A, EPL, Bundesliga etc.... will have to adhere to the same cap in wages of playing staff (excluding youngsters) That way ok you can pay Carlos Kickaball 200k pw BUT it will mean having a smaller squad of professionals. The clubs would have to balance it carefully. I dont know if its practical or something similar but I think its the only way you could do it and get around the laws regarding earning potential. I would also change the loan system so that you can only loan a player out to a lower level club.

I'd like that too but it's never going to happen unfortunately. I'd also like to see a cap on the size of the squads or pplayers a club can own. Currently Chelsea have 70+ players on their books which is taking the piss

Great, the Kroenke, the Glazers and Co can all pocket the cash instead of the players.
