I read on this website a while ago that he is coming to us in the summer as Ar5ena1 would not deal with us. Not sure if this was ITK or not.

Do we have any info on this?

Well, not strictly true SS57. All the news is from ITK's who claim some sort of deal was made with Portsmouth, that they would buy Diarra from Arsenal for us, and then at the end of the season they would sell him to us, if they could have Defoe. It all seems a bit far fetched, but that was the gist.

All the January ITK is still available for viewing in Transfer Rumours. There's not a word of this rather wonderful piece of wishful thinking there. Nor, as far as I'm aware, has there been anything since, at least from anyone with any credibility.

Besides, although it's entirely possible that Arsenal wouldn't do business with us, we don't know for a fact that this was so. We don't even know that the club made any approach at all. It's just as possible that we decided he was a Billy Big-Bollocks wanker who'd get itchy feet inside a season and would therefore be more trouble than he was worth.

Is he that special anyway?

It's been well since the window shut that this talk arose, and has been posted by many different ITK's as well.

Well, there you go. My mate the well-respected football agent told me this over dinner. It must be true.

Such as? (Other than the unattributed stuff above.)

Might be worth going out to pasture and seeing if The Goat could have a nibble in the long grass to turn up anything juicy.

And if that doesn't work he could ask his ITK contact about Lassana Diarra.

I'm not sure who exactly SS57, but i've read it a few times. I didn't believe it, so I didn't take note. Apologies.

If Portsmouth did that - i.e sell Diarra to Spurs - I wonder if Gooners would ever do business with them again...

Andy Gray mentioned during commentary yesterday that when he signed he said he wouldn't be there for long and that Harry didn't mind making a tidy profit on him. I think Big Sam commented on it as well.

Well, since Diarra said he wouldn't be hanging around at Pompey when he signed for them, it's no surprise that even Gray has figured it out.

He was immense yesterday against Blackburn, he barely put a foot wrong all game long, played many good passes, tackled back regularly and generally wanted the ball into feet throughout, much like Carrick used to when at Spurs.

I'd love us to sign him but Pompey are likely to win FA Cup and so also be in Uefa cup next season so i doubt he'd see as much of a better option than where he is currently, I think he's holding out for a club abroad possibly??

On the upside, we're probably the biggest club outside of the top 4 in England who would need him. Not goin back to Chelsea or Scum, Man U certainly dont need him and even tho Rafa seems to want a side full of central midfielders, I dont see Liverpool signing him.

Why the rude arrogant attitude SS57? Its uncalled for.

And for the record... yeah he is quite special.

Hmmm... Personally I find it quite surprising that Andy Gray's shoes are on the right feet... I guess it's only a 50/50 choice tho

He'll almost certainly be at Portsmouth next season; definitely not WHL though. We didn't go in for him twice in recent windows for a very good reason (psychological profiling).

Sorry, could you point out the rudeness? Or the arrogance, come to that? Or is pointing out that there has been fuck all in the way of credible ITK about Diarra rude and arrogant in itself?

I have this wonderful image of us employing Fitz (Robbie Coltrane) from 'Cracker' to sit across from potential signings, blowing cigarette smoke into their face and making them break down in tears and confess to crimes/murders/previous bad tackles.
