Can we stop debating one or the other, we want both! I'm not sure where the 'If you had to pick only one' debate has come from. If we do the deals we want to do, we will sign Fati on loan with an option, Johnson on a permanent and another CB. We have several to shift still but the club is still very positive. A very big 24 hours coming up where we need to line up as much of this as possible before heading into the last day.

Ansu Fati with a foot and a half in London
Very advanced negotiations for Tottenham to take over the player's services. A transfer option is being considered. Agreement very close to closing, a priori in an assignment format.
If nothing goes wrong, Ansu Fati will be a new Tottenham player.

Believe this guy is considered an ok source for Barca, certainly not a WUM atleast.

if it’s a loan with an option for fati or 50m for johnson it has to be fati

not only is it more financially viable, he also has a track record of end product at the highest level that brennan johnson does not

It wouldn't surprise me if we're playing chicken with forest on the price or to take one of our players.

They're close to FFP limits from what I've read and spending on another 3-5 players currently! That or maybe we bite the bullet, get Fati in (with an option hopefully) and try for Johnson again in January.

Apparently he won't sign a new deal as well so diminishing value from here on our?

Would be very excited for Fati, just hope an option is somehow in there

The more I think about Ansu in a Spurs shirt, the more I like it. I guess Ange had a little chinwag with him some time around our least pre-season friendly and he liked what he heard.

Absolutely love you and this but we’ve all been here so many times before mate and it almost always ends up in a ‘we tried’ and we are left well short.

Id be pleasantly surprised verging on shocked if we did get Fati, Johnson and a CB but those 3 are exactly what we need so fingers and toes crossed.

Lol why would you bring in Fati for a year to disrupt what will be a clear rebuild year? Makes no sense.

Just sign Johnson on a permanent and a CB. Call it good. We only play once a week.
Yeah... at least Fati with an option would mean we're planning for the long term and could be lining up Fati to replace Son.

If we get Fati on loan without an option we could feasibly have 3 left wingers that won't be at the club next season (Perisic, Fati and Son). When we have 3 games a week not only are they going going struggle to share the minutes but we're not developing any of them for the future. Makes no sense.

Why not put the colossal money we'd spend on Fati's wages & loan fee towards buying a 3rd choice CB or buying a proper number 9?

Just doesn't make sense to me.

More’s the point, can you even have a “foot and a half” in the door?!

Reading Romano's tweet it sounds like it's a choice between Fati loan or Johnson permanent.

I did think it would almost certainly be a choice between Fati or Johnson.

Which is insane really. Completely different types of player and play on opposite sides too.

This stinks of someone sniffing an opportunity and throwing our plans out the window, all so we don't spend actual money?

Why on earth would we take Fati on a loan and not pursue someone our manager clearly wants as his number 1 target. We're basically getting someone in for 12 months instead of buying someone who the manager wants for his long term rebuild.

Regardless of my opinions on either player and what their worth, it's naffing insane.
Exactly my thinking.

We’re being opportunistic with this Fati deal rather than following our plan with Johnson.
It makes no sense whatsoever, if it’s just a loan rather than a purchase.

Mendes fingers all over it.

Just get Johnson.

Wonder if this deal could line up the dominoes for PEH to end up at Atletico if they get the Felix money from Barca...

How is it not sensible to take a loan with an option? For a former wonderkid that averages a goal involvement every 110 minutes? It seems like a no-brainer.
Have you watched him post injury? Because he's exactly that: a former wonderkid who isn't the same player anymore, no matter what people remember from before his injury or on Fifa, or by reputation alone.

It's never a "no-brainer" to sign someone missing most of their meniscus in one knee, particularly a winger who needs explosive pace.

But there's room for different opinions and I could well turn out to be wrong. As I said, if we get him I'll back him like all our players.

As I said though, if we get him I'll back him like all our players.
He still was pretty damn good last season AFTER his injury in limited minutes so I still don't really understand what there is to lose.
