Maybe Veliz will be that guy eventually or even Scarlett but I do agree.

Suggests a shit load of foreplay with little penetration approach for the interim.
Yeah...

I guess if we take a longer term view it's all but certain Perisic will leave next summer and I think it's also fairly likely Son moves on too, what with him being 32, only having a year left on his contract and his powers starting to wane.

Just not sure how the minutes will balance out this season between 7 players unless Son plays a lot more minutes centrally.

I do think a loan makes an awful lot more sense than a straight signing, though. And Fati is accustomed to playing off the bench at least.

Fati & Johnson should completely transform the forward line.
The midfield forward like will be more coherent & cohesive. If Fati can stay fit, his link ups, dribble, through ball and general passing game should enhance performance of entire XI.

With just less than 48 hrs left, I hope we can wrap both deals

It's not for me to think he can do it, I think Ange believes he can and the evidence is there as he takes Richy off and puts Son there
Postecoglou also seems to believe Richarlison has what it takes to play a big role for us.

I like him as a coach, but he is only human and prone to misjudgment. I would be gravely concerned if he was satisfied with our CF options as things stand.
If that's the case then we would need another left winger.
Still disputing this. Perisic and Solomon is more than sufficient relative to other deficiencies within the squad.

It will be fati with BJ

(And keep Sanchez)
This would be good if we replace Dier.
Fati doesn't need to be registered this season. Johnson gives us a better homegrown option. So the CB can be non homegrown to replace Dier.
When contracts run out for Sanchez and Perisic it frees space for Sarr and Udogie to be registered. Then decide who else to make way if we sign Fati next year but if Lo Celso goes the other way we would have space free.

Playing off Kane, one of the best hold-up strikers in the world, and starting at LW/LF.

Playing centrally requires a very different skillset and mentality. There is no evidence he can play this role at Premier League level, especially for a team trying to finish top 4.

Sorry but just thinking he can adapt is not enough. He is an unknown quantity at CF, he cannot be trusted to lead the line centrally for a full season; certainly not if we want to get serious about competing at the top.

Right now, we have zero players in our squad who are proven top-4 standard central strikers. We are currently relying on Richarlison in this position, who is absolutely not at the required level and cannot be trusted. It is ridiculous that we're supposedly targeting another expensive LW when it's one of our best-stocked positions in the squad.

We have seen Son play as a striker quite a few times under Poch and he was good. He has excellent movement, good on both feet and can score goals. We don't need a target man type striker with the way we play so I don't see why he can't play up top.

Get 2 quick players around him and the fluidity of our attack and support from midfield will make us dangerous.

There is certainly an element of forward planning here and, what I hope will become more apparent as the season unfolds, is an evolution of our attacking makeup.

Can see all 3 of Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski transitioned out slowly in the next year or two.

I’d say with Richy it’s more than we have no other striker options right now so Ange HAS to at least pretend to believe in him for this season.

This is also probably why we are looking at Fati / a winger profile also to create more chances for Richy / Son etc.

Fati is an immense talent and as much as I would love to see him in a Spurs shirt, I have some real concerns with this. Apparently he doesn't want to leave Barca but his father and Mendes are pushing it. That's not ideal. And while he will never be the same player he was, his future success will depend on his learning to trust his body and knee again. But the extreme physicality of the Premier League is only going to make that much harder.

I'm hoping not Kulu i think he is out form but is slowly getting back up to his high standard.
Really liked Kulu think he has a lot to give.

Mate, Pochettino was 4-8 years ago. It was a different team back then and much has changed since.

He's had a mediocre last 12 months and a mediocre start to the season. It is absolutely ridiculous to think he can be trusted in a central striking role when it's never been his main position and his current output is below average. This isn't about being a "target man" either; we need someone who can produce 15+ goals playing as a striker if we're going to achieve anything this season. As good as Son has been in the past, he cannot be trusted to deliver that kind of goal output this season.

I like the idea of a loan with option/obligation based on appearances. I fucking despise the idea of us doing Mendes a favour, because when has it ever worked out well for anyone in the long run?

Apologies if this doesn't copy across well.

It's barcas top journalist reporting on the news that fati has asked to leave and spurs are currently in the lead for his signature but.....

I presume the but is because his Dad seems to prefer a loan to sevilla.

...so sign a striker? It's not rocket science.
A proven striker who can play centrally and produce good goal output should be the absolute top priority right now, not an LW...

This season is going to end up seriously disappointing if those two are our options to play striker.

and what is etc? Dane Scarlett? He looked completely off the pace vs Fulham.

Also says that his dad prefers him to go on loan to Sevilla...

Taking my Spurs hat off, Sevilla does seem like a better loan move for him tbh. Stays in Spain, likely gets more minutes than he would at Spurs, European football, less physical league.
