I really, really dislike Gray. In between his 'I have to say....' and 'If I'm being honest.....' time fillers, he comes out with such nuggets of information like 'They'll have to score to get back into the game' when talking about a team 1-0 down. No shit sherlock.

I think the reason I hate Gray so much is that many pundits see themselves as just that. Talking heads. Andy Gray thinks he's some kind of football genius and he just clearly isn't.

Like said above, if he is that fucking great, why no go into management. Because he hasn't got the bottle and knows full well that he would be battered by other proper managers.

As they say in GTA4......TW@

I agree with this, they might have played the game but it doesn't make them a tactical genius. Many ex-footballers admit they weren't the most tactically aware and just ran where they were told.

"When a side wins a cup, as Spurs have done, I often wonder how good there are. It's a nice moment when you win one, but you don't need to win too many games to win a cup!"

Heh. Andy Gray is pretty funny. We only beat Chelsea after going down and we only managed to slaughter Arsenal 5-1. These are only two of the world's best club. Before that we won Man City at their ground with 10 men for about 70 minutes. There was also Middlesbrough, a premiership club, and Blackpool, a lower league club we beat, but beating lower league clubs is like a walk in the park. Right, Liverpool and Chelsea? That's only a couple of games we won to win us a cup. We're shit.

andy gray - - prick

anyone i must say I feel we are a cup side, aside from 50/51 and 60/61 we've never really been a league side, i think this is part of the excitement and unpredicatbility that makes it always interesting and great to be a spurs fan.

to be honest I don't think Juande will ever win us the league but I think we can once again b a very successful cup side under him.

In the cold light of day though, it is easier to win a cup than a Championship.

The games are one-off usually and intrinsic to the day's motivational pulls. Spurs are great at attacking the prize of cup finals.

Where we lack though, as is evident not just in how many League Championships we've won in the last fifty years, but also are league positions, particularly in the goldfish bowl that is the Premiership.

A manager such as Ramos has the qualifications to be the one to take a relatively average squad, in Premiership terms, and turn it into a title challenging squad. His tools will be monetary backing, as per every other manager preceding him, but also his man-management skills that will take a good player and make him into an excellent team player.

So ultimately, though Andy Gray is all of the above, he is somewhat a realist in the cold light of day.

I cannot stand that twat Venners. He makes my blood boil whenever I read any piece by him. He maybe an ex player and a manager who won us the FA cup but that does not mean I have to like the guy. His bias towards Chelsea ALL the time is cringe worthy to say the least. His managerial record reads that he has only won 2/3 majot honours in his whole career as a manager but still the hacks from wapping will still print the shite he spouts. If he was such a bloody good coach as they make him out to be he would be the manager of a top, Top, TOP European team. The fact that he is not and has not even been close to being in the last 15 years tells a story in it self!

Vennables was one of the boo boys as a player at Tottenham in the sixties. The home crowd were always giving him stick.

Dagenham wide-boy with fingers in many pies.

I can remember that. Was really thinking why Bill Nick bought him. After the very mobile and goal-scoring John White, Venables with his comparatively sluggish style, was never really suitable to play it Spurs' way.

Gray & Parry were truly at their anti Spurs best today.

Apparently we were lucky to still be in the game at the end of a 1st half that we totally dominated.

All we heard from Gray pre Everton Fulham and at half-time was about their midweek exertions and how it could hamper them today blah blah blah. When it was over to Spurs he mentioned midweek exertions which also included travelling precisely 0 times.

I dont think you have grasped the point of our annoyance. Andy Gray is making comments about obvious issues, issues that go without saying, purely to be heard (or read in this case). Comments that are also partly inaccurate. A better, talented and more informed pundit would address issues that were not obvious or rhetoric.

seesm to me he's just trying to add some perspectve to the whole 'ramos revolution' stuff.

at the end of the day we're still losing to the birminghams, villas & Man citys of the league, but we won a cup that Boro won in 2004 & that Wigan, Arsenal reserves & Bolton got to the final of in the last few years, so that makes it OK.

Andy Gray is a terrible pundit, such a shame that he gets so much airtime. He has very little knowledge of any teams outside the top 4 and Everton. When it comes to European football he has no knowledge whatsoever, it is painful when listening to him commentate on CL games when hasn't heard of most of the players from teams like Sevilla, Porto, Fenerbahce etc unless they've played in the premirship in the past.
