I wouldn't mind sliding down a couple of places at the expense of winning the UEFA cup.

Who gives a monkey's if we are 15th?

We have not a lot else to gain in the league since we already occupy a UEFA slot and we can't possibly make a CL place, so lets just win the UEFA and stay up!

You can't win 'em all...................but you can win more than Arsenal...

I genuinely thought we were talking about playground slides. Now THEY fookin terrify me. Especially when people put bollards at the end in the middle. Ouch.

If you think that Juande will put up with losing 4-1 every week then your crazy. The Brum game was a freak result, we hadn't lost by more than 2 goals all season. Players did need a rest due to the fact they had to play ET as well at Wembley which would have taken it out of them both physically and mentally. We will do PSV then beat Wet Spam and all will be well again

I don't fear a slide at all. Sorry mate but I think you are over-reacting far too much to a single game and need to get some perspective. Our players had a bad day and Juande got it wrong (the latter only if his hand wasn't forced by injuries). So what? It will happen again. All in all though I'm happy with the progress made, think we have a good chance of challenging for the UEFA (defensive injuries permitting) and will finish no lower than we are now in the league.

I can't say that I fear a slide but I don't think anyone can afford to ignore the fact that we are just seven points off the relegation zone. Yes, there are a lot of teams between us and the drop, but points-wise, it's not much. Subconsciously I think that it's natural for some players to take their feet off the gas now that we've qualified for Europe but that can't happen. If it does, we're in real trouble.

Kevin Keegan has been very forthright at Newcastle about the fact that they are in a relegation fight, and we're only 4 points ahead of them!

What really annoys me is the attitude of some fans, as though now that we have a good coach and we've won a trophy, we're automatically a top side and definitely won't go down. A lot of people slagged off John Terry when he said that even a bad Chelsea team should beat Spurs, and yet you get people on here who acted in the same way, as though all Spurs had to do was turn up at Birmingham and the worst that would happen is that we'd get a draw. Then you get people saying "We'll win every home game from now on" as though the mighty Spurs only have to turn up at White Hart Lane and other teams wilt with fear. Well, we're good, but we're not that good, and there are a lot of teams who will look at us and fancy getting points off us.

This isn't about doom and gloom. It's about the fact that the CC win shouldn't blind us to the fact that we're in a poor position in the league, are defensively frail without Ledley and Woodgate, and have two goalkeepers who can't seem to keep the ball out of the net and have sold a goalpoacher and kept hold of a striker who can't (at the moment) seem to find the net.

When everyone is fit and playing well, we're an excellent team. When players are missing or low on confidence, we're still a team that can get thrashed. So it's prudent that we focus on staying up, rather than worrying whether we'll finish 4th next season.

I am not sure where this "weakened" side idea is coming from. If we have Leds and Wood at the back we could play virtually any combination of players for the other positions and have a good chance of winning. Both of those players were injured for he brum game which forced us to play players out of position.

Yes we rested Keano, JJ and Lennon, but we had players to replace them.

Since his arrival Ramos has been under pressure to get results, mostly in the hope that we might get a Euro spot for next season. This has stopped him from experimenting with the squad to see just what they can do. Now we are in Europe, we have won a cup and are second favourites in the UEFA he can take a good look at the entire squad with a view to the summer transfer window.

There is no chance at all that we will be relegated because we only need to win 3 games. It was a bad performance, we are all upset, but get a grip.

the UEFA is our priority - ATM I'm not worried about relegation at all - if we lose at home to Hammers then I'll start worrying - but I don't think we will

can you honestly, and i mean honestly see ramos and poyet letting the players become that complacent so as to conserve all their energy for the uefa cup.

i mean surely poyet's latest post match interview is an indication of how that will NEVER happen

Do I think Poyet and Ramos will let players get complacent? No.

Do I think we have a good enough team to win lots of our remaining games? Yes.

Do I think we'll get relegated? No.

Do I think that we should be aware that for all the progress and success that we've had over the last few months we are still only seven points off the relegation zone, with some tough fixtures ahead and should balance enthusiasm with some realism? Yes.

I think the defeat and more the margin and manor of the defeat will be used in a positive way from now on. I'm more confident about PSV and the reamining matches becasue Ramos has been reminded of the tough work he still has to do and i'm more than confident now he is equiped to make swift improvements on things that go wrong. It was also one of the few occasions Ramos could dare look at some alternatives positionally and personel wise. He now has 10 odd games left to make an final desicion about who leaves us, who stays and what he brings in.
Last Saturdays result would have helped him form some opinions.

If we beat PSV over two legs and progress to the semi's i don't expect a repeat level of apathy from our players in the following league game. Proving the lesson was well learnt

Yes we do need to be aware of our position and that of those below us, but we also need to remind ourselves that we were playing after a gruelling match the previous week and against a side that is struggling in the league but who more often than not always make it very difficult for other teams when playing at home. I was there; they did play well but we just didn't seem up for it from the word go!

why is it that spurs can be forgiven for supposedly putting the blame on a huge focus on the uefa cup, whereas a team.... oh let's randomly select a vast variety of quality... man u or chelsea perhaps, would want to focus on every game they play in?

it's not like the brum are even a good side. 4 1 is a joke.

We severely underestimated them if we thought we'd get a result with that XI, and if we wrote the game off before we'd even played it that's even less acceptable IMO.

I'll bet anything we'll not get relegated. Ramos would not tolerate anyone playing badly for more than 3 games in a row, and we have a reasonably good squad to allow him to make changes and still play for the right results.

Well Woolwich are in the 'big four' and Whinger rested Adebayor, Flamini et al for their trip to Old Trafford, where they got thumped 4-0, so they were ready for Meeelan in the week. it's never nice getting thumped especially by a team you would expect to beat but it happens in football

I really think this game was a result of several things:

a) Post-Cup hangover
b) Underestimation of opposition
c) Completely rejigged cb pairing and partial rejig of midfield & strike pairing.
d) Lack of focus on current game and major focus on PSV game.

Yep and Alex McLeish would have been geeing them up and explaining how we'd not be up for it blah blah all week...

Be positive. I was at the game on Saturday and trust me, that was our worst performance this season.

With or without Ramos there is no way I can see that there could be a repeat performance.

We would have to lose the rest of the games and others to catch up and I dont see that happening some how.

The players are playing for their futures, not a guess but a fact, as stated by our assistant manager.
