Except we're obviously not going to play 3 at the back the entire season.if 3 at the back we need 5 CBs in a potential 60 game season

But there is only so many players allowed at one club.. Our big 5 competitors will continue collecting players to prevent each other from buying, and this will be a reoccurring issue for weeks, months and years to come.It doesnt matter anyway. Liverpool or someone will just bid more and offer the player more money

Exactly. We wouldn't stick to it all season, especially with a couple of injuries at centre back.Except we're obviously not going to play 3 at the back the entire season.
Why do we assume he's a LCB?RCB - Alderweireld, Carter-Vickers
CB - Dier
LCB - Vertonghen, Mawson/Wimmer
5 CB's for a decent amount of depth. I actually think we're one short, but not a top tier player, just a promising backup project to Dier, someone capable of switching between CB and cover for Wanyama.
Suppose realistically, if Dier needs to move into DM if Wanyama is not available, it'd just be Toby or Jan into the middle, with CCV or Mawson/Wimmer coming in.
I really like Mawson. ~£20m in today's market would be a fair price given his age. Let's get it done.
Why do we assume he's a LCB?
He's not as gifted as Stones technically but in many ways is perhaps more suited to the Prem League. Stones would probably do very well in Spain or Italy and will have a good career anyway but Mawson is more physical and appears to have a bit of steel and attitude that suits the robust game here. When you compare it to what Stones went for it seems too good to be true. Cracking player, and still has a good 3-4 years to reach his peak.
Can't argue with that but he is right-footed so, for us, you might find him on the right.Because he's played there for Swansea and England U21s
You seem to state this as a fact? Are you sure he is right-footed? Because if he is 'naturally' right-footed he is a fine example of a 2-footed footballer in the Maldini-mode (not talent); he plays on the left, does most of his ballwork with his left, and dribbles with his left. So I surmise that were he to come to Spurs we would, in fact, not find him on the right as that is counter to Poch's efforts thus far and Mawson has only played on the left. To conclude anything else is counter-intuitive, surely. Can't argue with that but he is right-footed so, for us, you might find him on the right.
I did include a link to a very good Guardian article on page 3. You should read it, particularly this:You seem to state this as a fact? Are you sure he is right-footed?
