Chelsea reportedly going in for Martinez now. I’d imagine it’d one of him or Bastoni.

If Martinez is on the market we should push for him too. Would really give us insane attacking options.

I was worried Chelsea might do this and scupper our transfer plans with Inter once more.

We are lucky we had the Conte draw or they would have pipped us to Perisic too.

What’s Chelsea’s status with regards to transfers? Aren’t they still under sanctions?

Martinez is supposed to be untouchable, I would be very surprised if Inter sell regardless of the Lukaku situation. Even if Lukaku comes in, Martinez is still needed for Inter.

Whereas Bastoni out Bremer in is an obvious shuffle for them to make.

If Chelsea do once again scupper our plans by doing a deal with Inter it will be so annoying, they gave themn 100 million last summer for an absolute donkey. Now they are trying to give him back, they are such a shit club.

Nothing more than aggregator speculation regarding Chelsea interest in Martinez as far as I can see. I stand corrected if anyone can share more reliable links.

Words such as "might", "reportedly considering" being used.

Nkunku and Ousmane Dembele are also mentioned as targets.

I'm not overly fussed by this as of yet.

By all accounts Inter were willing to let Martinez go last summer and keep Lukaku. Then it got flipped.

So I'm not sure how replacing Lautaro with Lukaku would be any different to Bastoni-Bremer. You could argue Lukaku is getting on a bit but they had Dzeko playing up front this season.

The difference being Martinez has had a great season and their coach has classed him as untouchable. Things can change obviously but I'd be very surprised if Inter were to take Lukaku back and subsequently write off all that money Chelsea owed them. Surely Inter can see that they've had an absolute touch Chelsea paying them 100 million for Lukaku, why would they want to let them off the hook by effectively cancelling that deal? I mean, obviously I'm no accountant but from the outside it would be a bizarre move.

As an Italian, this guy is the next jewel in the ever longing line of Italian defenders. He is class and going to just get better and better.

I would love him here, however I can see Inter and especially Moratti playing silly buggers with us (Paratici). I think if we did get Bastoni it would only be him, however I think we would be better off and an easier process getting 2 players for the price of Bastoni i.e. Bremer and Ndicka. Maybe Torres if we worked money off in a Lo Celso swap deal.

Didn't them signing Lukaku last year prevent us signing Martinez? Seeing as Inter needed cash first, it was one or the other at the time...

Chelsea are not off the hook for the £100m (probably £80m by now) unless they specifically work it into a new deal. So for argument's sake if they value Lukaku now at 50 and Martinez at 70 and did a swap then they'd owe 20 for that + the original 80

It's all posturing at this stage...Bastoni camp will have to follow Inter's lead for the moment...

gonna be pissed if chelsea ruin it for us such a garbage club meh.
I really don't see how swapping Lukaku for Martinez solves Inter's financial problems. If Chelsea still owe a substantial amount of the Lukaku fee, this will appear on the Inter balance sheet as an asset (under Creditors). If Lukaku returns to Inter with no further payments from Chelsea it would wipe (allegedly) 70m off the balance sheet. Selling Martinez for a similar fee would simply put the balance sheet back to where it is now, and Inter would still need to sell players.
