i know it's off the point and off the debate but what was the actual story with Scholer? where had he come from? what did he do so wrong? and what happened to him after us?
all i seem to be able to find related to him is a tenuous link to nottingham forrest

The problem with Maxwell was that although he couldn't afford it, he was perfectly capable of juggling funds to do so. Also, he was still in many people's eyes a good bloke, incredible as it may seem. I can remember listening to a friend of mine telling me he wouldn't mind Maxwell taking over and asking him if he was crazy. A lot of City insiders and financial journos had a very good idea of how bent he was, but no paper would run anything because they knew he'd have his libel lawyers on them ; Private Eye was the only one that took the risk, and the court awarded Maxwell nearly £250k damages and almost put the Eye out of business.

Scholar's trouble was that instead of concentrating on the core of the business he put the Tottenham name to a lot of wacky business sideshows, like running ticketing agencies for other club, and dropping big bucks along the way, with the property downturn in the late 80'searly 90's he was just about wiped out personally.

(Allegedly)
