We’ll pass on Tielemans and watch him go to Leicester for £20m.

We’ll be very interested in him next season, after impressive performances for Leicester in this league, although we’ll be told they’ll only sell for £70m, and that’ll be too expensive for us, of course.

Yep. Similar situation to Maddison.

£20m is not extortionate in the current market. Even if he has an indifferent time with us we could probably recoup most of that fee the following season.

With 3 days left to go and no solid links, I’ve no doubt in my mind that this isn’t happening. Shame, I really think he could have been what we need.

As could Youri Tielemans, available for the same price as Rabiot but apparently going to Leicester.

But the market will be blamed, I’m sure.
Whilst we have the HG issue I can't see Poch signing any young 'potentially' good players. He's been well and truly burnt by the GKN, N'Jie, Janssen experiences.

Not sure if its true but he would certainly be better than what they have. Also from his perspective I would say Liverpool are a more exciting prospect as they're much closer to winning silverware than us.

From a neutral standpoint they are a lot more exciting to sign for.

Tielemans apparently lost the ball 34 times last game. Its not sure he will become a great player.

We also passed on Islam Slimani who went to Leicester, was crap and then disappeared.

Tielemans is a good player certainly but is he better than Winks? I would consider our need more for a box-to-box type.

At the minute I wouldn’t really turn anything down of course ?

This. Even if we did manage to get him it's one of those situations that sounds like it's almost guaranteed to become an issue down the line. For that reason, I'm out.

Probably not better than Winks currently but Winks can't play 70 games a year - we need options. Look what happened yesterday when we picked 2nd and 3rd choice players. We went out of the cup. Our depth in midfield isn't good enough.

He’s got a better passing range than Winks, we’d be incredibly ignorant to pass on Tielemans for £20m.

Yes he does but a lot say after his injury he isn't the same player? Would that be worth the risk and then have another loose end possibly?

If the club are not going to take a ‘risk’ on a player of Tielemans talent for £20m and cry and moan that every other top talent is too expensive, then we may as well just give up in the transfer market.

Although, looks like we may have already given up...

This is the reason we have no depth.

"He's not better than Winks"

Yeah but when Winks is rested/injured/whatever, who you gonna play?

In your post you said we are being played by the owners whose only real interest is in selling players. Presumably this means they have no real interest in buying.

Here’s Trix, an hour before you posted that:

Poch is happy with the squad and really hasn't been pushing for incomings. He has his extremely optimistic list and is more than aware they were unlikely to be brought in. The thing with the ITK's on here, and the other forums at least is that it comes from various different sources, some pro Levy, some anti Levy, some that have zero interests in the club what so ever. Believe me we all talk behind the scenes and everyone is hearing pretty much exactly the same thing regarding this, and have been for some time. Some of you can bury your heads in the sand and continue to blame Levy(don't get me wrong he has form) but our lack of transfers both now and in the Summer are not down to him. He's for once doing what we have all been asking for, for the last decade and backing the manager. I know, easier to do when he doesn't have to spend any money, but there is money available should Poch want to bolster the squad.

It’s reasonable to ask whether you think Poch is on board given that the itk are unequivocal in their belief that he is. Indeed the above makes it seem as though the extent of our reluctance to buy is principally driven by Poch.

You may be rightfully angry at Levy but you should be equally angry at Poch. No inconsistency there..
Interesting from Trix. I do get the impression Poch is a lot more patient than our fans. Maybe he feels there is a lot of quality coming through so unless someone top quality becomes available there's no point bringing anyone in. They could be replaced in the team by a Skipp or a Sterling before long if they're not good enough and then we struggle to offload them.

I would be suprised if he isn't interested in Rabiot though. My only concern though would be if we did tempt him to sign, as soon as a top club shows interest he might try and force a move.
