The question is: do you want us to sign Adama Traore? As many as are of that opinion say

I think Nuno did try him at RWB, when Doc was injured. I don't know for how many games though.

I posted an article in this thread on his time at wingback yesterday afternoon. So have a search for that.

Does he have the discipline to play the role is my question. Time will tell. He’s a signing that improves the squad and gives us something different off the bench though that’s for sure.

dont want either of them taking free kicks tbh, both have had there fair share and never delivered, would like to see lucas take more, the ones he has taken have been decent

Kane, absolutely. But Dier? He's not had his fair share, has he?

I admit to having a broken memory, but I can't remember numerous free-kicks from him?

The thing is, unlike Kane, Dier has actually proven he's capable from a set-piece and, as things stand in our present squad, he's still the only person I'd have any faith in putting one in the back of the net.

It's a bit like when we had Eriksen. He went bloody ages without actually scoring a free-kick (saying nothing about corners) but he was still the one we'd all want taking them, just in case.

Kane doesn't offer a just in case, Dier does. IF we get Traore (hope we do) I struggle to see many alternatives outside of Dier when it comes to taking any set-pieces Traore may win.

We will undoubtedly have lots of him running into blind alleys etc, just like Moura. The difference is that Traore will be in a position where he has more space and he will run at the fullback again, and again, and again! And he'll beat him. Teams will be forced to change shape to deal with him. Whether it means pushing a cm over to help, or centre back, or forcing their winger to stay back.

He won't always create anything himself, we know this already, he's no de Bruyne! But what he absolutely will do is open up space for others. He has never played under such a surgically precise manager as conte who will absolute have a plan to develop and use his talents to maximum affect.

At £20 million, a 25 year old, prem proven winger with a unique set of skills is about as much of a no brainer as you will ever get!

He just becomes another tool for Conte to use. There is literally no way he doesn't improve our squad!
Great post ?
He will also be taking Bryan Gil to the gym with him so there is another benefit.

*If* the reports are true and we have offered £15m and Wolves want £20m then I can see this going through before the deadline. £5m is a relatively small gap to bridge in today's market and £20m is a fairly modest fee for someone being brought in to immediately strengthen the first team. This even more so if Conte has identified Taore as a key acquisition.

I must admit I wasn't initially keen but I am warming to the idea, especially if Traore is being brought in to play at wing back and therefore compete with Emerson/Doherty for a place. This does feel like a potential huge upgrade in this area of the team.

I think hell excel under conte. Conte as we know massively improves players and will improve his decision making a lot. I think it will be so exciting watching him play and add extra dimensions to our and will absolutely create more space for others including regs.

If we are playing Traore I think we need to stick with the 3 in midfield snd two up front personally.

You've reminded me of something, and I'm sorry to everyone for going down memory lane a bit.

I've noticed he doesn't do that (much). I've noticed that he actually reminds me of a young me.

I'm not comparing myself with him. When 16 year old me was given my first trial (only for Yeovil Town) the manager was a guy called Clive Whitehead, apparently a half decent player back in the day, never heard of him though.

Anyway I was a striker, rapid. While I was on my trial, Clive decided he wanted to take a look at me as a winger. After about 3 or 4 runs down the line, he asked me why I'd stopped crossing the ball. When I explained to him that there was nobody to cross it to, he looked me in the eye & said , "Your job is to get the ball into the danger area, the strikers job is to be in the danger area. Do your job"..

Those words stuck with me, and for all the ridicule Traore gets for his supposed lack of end product, he does exactly what Clive instructed me to do all those years ago.

He gets to the goal line & more often than not, he hangs a cross into the middle of the box. There's just nobody there to finish it off (this was different when Jimenez was pre head injury).

He does his job, and surely we have better players to take advantage of what he brings to the party?

Sorry for the reminiscing & long post.
