Often in football and all sports the penny drops everything clicks and suddenly young players kick on, I think we maybe seeing this with Townsend he is definitely improving and with it comes confidence, he is definitely looking more confident. I have a feeling Holtby is another who is going to make great strides.

Who would you have us bring in to sit on the bench then? I'm not calling for him to keep his starting 11 place, I'm supporting the benefits of having someone like Lennon as a squad player.

I don't know I'm not a scout. I trust our scouts, AVB and Baldini to know what they're doing more than a bunch of guys tapping away on a forum. If it's decided he'll be sold, I trust a decent replacement will be found. I just don't understand the uproar at the moment. We've upgraded a lot of players so far this window, why shouldn't we look to upgrade Lennon also? I'll understand if people don't agree with the replacement, but we have no idea who that is yet.

What if we get a world class replacement in and it's him and Chadli that get rotated on the left, would that not be a squad improvement?

"sure his final ball isn't great, and he doesn't score enough.....but he TRACKS BACK!!!"

It would be a laughable defence for any attacking player at a top club, but somehow it's perfectly fine for Lennon. for someone who is supposedly one of our best players, I think it's rather telling that it's a club like Cardiff that's in for him, rather than a big club. Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale attract Man U, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, while Lennon attracts Cardiff.

even if it were clubs like Fulham and Newcastle in for him, they're still at least a level below us, yet some of our fans still believe he's indispensable. presumably the same people had such a problem with us letting our 4th choice CB. we really do overrate the hell out of some of our players

the only joke is your stupid comments about something you clearly know little about glad you got nothing to do with spurs as we would really be in trouble then....... mug

Hahaha...Clearly. Well I will continue to mug along and support the team I love. People have differing opinions...some are just more sound than others.

Sorry to express what seems like an unpopular opinion but if we are planning on playing with inverted wingers/wide forwards, and we buy Lamela or Hulk, what is the point of keeping Lennon? He's never played that well on the left and we are moving away from the 4-4-1-1 style that Lennon thrived in on the right under Harry. If we can sell for 10-15 million we can buy Ljajic for that amount, we would be fucking stupid not to.

Lennon was outstanding for a couple of years for a mid table team which we really were. I have noticed that his performance has gone downhill the last 2 years; and even his most devastating weapon is not often seen. We have now moved to contend and should therefore seek an upgrade for him. Townsend may not be as fast as him, but is more suited to playing 433 than Lennon 'cause he is much more direct and forceful in his runs and is therefore not so easily bundled off the ball. Townsend also has a much better arsenal of shots and crosses, and most importantly young enough to improve further.

Personally think Lennon is class, not a world beater, but a effective wide player in the attacking front and for someone whose supposed to be a attacking winger, is so tactically adept. I understand we are looking for higher level players, and certainly he can be improved upon, but he is one of the last players I'd want to leave. We talk about players showing no loyalty, it's a shame to see fans do the same to a player who's been part of so many great memories in our recent history. Thought he'd be a lifer at Spurs, hope he stays.

Sell Lennon??????

Is this a sick joke?

Aaron has given our side the balance that we always crave when he is out injured. There is no coincidence that all of our good runs contain a team with Lennon regularly on the team sheet.

Invaluable member of the team. Works his socks off on and off the ball. Scares the opposition with his pace

Team player

This might draw some laughter.......Anyone here thinks that Lennon can be converted to a Right Wing Back? Beside not being tall, i think he is equal to Walker or even slightly better in most departments......

And not having any aerial ability at all.

We'd need to sub him the moment we lose control of the game, which we all know can happen at any moment.

Lennon will want gametime to help his selection for the upcoming world cup. I don't think we are able to provide it to him anymore. Hopefully we get the no. 10/chance creator that we are sorely lacking. Right now, Townsend's direct play is providing what little inventiveness we have in the attacking third. Lennon, for all of his pace and dribbling, just seems to always be lacking in the final ball.

I'd love to have Lennon out there to provide some width assuming we have someone who can provide some creativity.
