Look around, i've given credit where it's due. I don't think of any of us look "pathetic" at all, he has been playing a much more composed game, putting in a lot more effort and it's paying off.

However, when i posted my opinion of him in this thread months ago, he looked as useful as a hockey sock full of crabs. Perhaps, with the signing of Davies and Poch's new regime, he now has both competition and someone who isn't going to take his crap anymore and the team is better for it.

Thought Naughton, up until he had to come off, had a really solid game as well, constantly closing down and despite air-shotting a clearance, stayed composed and managed to make the block anyway.

Good times.

I've never rated him as a left back but now he's actually looking like he might be being taught how to play as one.

Yesterday he was close to being motm. I still feel like he has a mistake in him but they seem to be less than they usually were.

Definitely a pochettino success story.

Great point about walker actually. I didn't think of that. That's pretty exciting if he can have the same impact on walker.

I think it's more pathetic to spend lots of time sifting through comments and trying to shame other posters for having a different opinion than yours. Last season Danny was extremely lazy, he didn't track back after losing the ball and he was not playing well - at all. This season, so far, he's been very good for the most part and is showing a lot more effort and determination.

I try to objectively comment on a player's performance. I'm not a big Lamela fan but when he does play well, like yesterday, I give credit where it's due. I criticized Rose a lot last season, because he deserved it. This season I've criticized him far less, in fact praised his performances.

So maybe you should take a step back and just calm down a little bit. Comments like you just made contributes nothing to this forum.

I actually noticed your post and you've put your criticism across in a well constructed manor in which I didn't have a problem with at the time nor do I now. I actually agree with your sentiments in the main but unlike many others I was willing to give him another chance. The problem I have with these posts is that there is little thought behind their words and they've used this thread as a platform to voice their vitriol just because it suits their agenda.

I really don't care if it looks pathetic, none more so than the people who were putting him down in a completely innocent thread which aimed to get behind one of our players (God forbid) there isn't any need to come in and throw unwarranted, OTT criticism especially as these people knew the kind of circumstances our players were playing in last season.

No need to take it so personally, I haven't called you out so maybe you need to take a step back and calm down

I'm very happy to say that I was wrong about Rose. I always thought he had the physical ability to be a great LB but his mentality last year annoyed me. Last year I think he annoyed me the most when he was jogging back while there was a quick counterattack against us (I must say i supported him even when he was playing badly - support the shirt!). This year he's on another level and I love his mentality, he just never gives up and puts in a fantastic shift both defensively (almost nothing gets past him) and offensively (need to improve his final ball but otherwise very good). I'm very happy to be wrong about him , he's a spurs player and our best interest is that our players play well . Keep this up Danny! Well done Poch!

Can't argue, he is playing well at the moment and has improved a lot. In the team as first choice at the moment and as long as he continues his form he should stay there. I wish he would stop giving away silly free kicks around the corner flag area though.

Danny is playing similar as he was at Sunderland. Little to do with Pochertinho although he will suit Pochertinho's system down to the ground.

Was very good yesterday, I still have an issue with his decision making at times and he needs to be more composed at the back and up front but cannot fault him rising to the challenge laid down by poch bringing in Davies.

Admire his recent progress.

Need Davies to get going now so they can have a proper battle for the position...can only benefit the club.

There was nothing wrong with any complaints that anyone had last season about Danny Rose, unless you're telling us that he wasn't fucking woeful last season? Ceteris Paribus most posters on here would say the exact same things.

What exactly are you trying to say here? "HaHa look at all you fools who... errrmmm.... have the maturity to have your minds changed when new and updated information presents itself?" Which isn't quite as insulting to me as you hoped. Or perhaps you're trying to say "HaHa, a player who plays for the club you support has played well recently, I bet you're really gutted!". Ouch, I might need to be taken to the Burn Clinic to get treatment for how much you burned me.

You see unlike you if I ever make disparaging predictions about a player who plays for Spurs then my greatest hope is that I am wrong.

I feel young Danny boy has come in for a hell of a lot of stick over the last year, and the majority has been completely unnecessary.
To start with according to most he had a rubbish season, please tell me which defender had a good season, even Vertongen who is easily are best defender looked pretty shit last season. I think our problem defensively last season was that to start with under AVB we played in a very strict style so our attacking was woeful, luckily due to some penalties and our high level of possession we won games, but after a while teams realised that we were pretty impotent going forward so started applying pressure and as our possession went down, we had to defend more and more, plus with injuries we weren't playing with the same back four regularly and that's when the goals against us started to go up and up, this left our whole defense as a laughing stock, and a lot targeted Danny as the problem.
When we changed to Sherwood the attacking got better( not exactly a hard achievement) this was due to him just letting players of such a tight leash, and allowing them to go and do what they wanted, but this left our defense disorganised and subject to counters, and often they came down our left, so yet again Danny got more of the blame, so why has our left side been such an Achilles ankle to us?
Also why did he have such a good season at Sunderland, well to start with they have quite a few left footed midfielders, who would naturally work with Danny, so when he bombed forward they would cover, plus when defending he had the support of a left midfielder, so they could double team the attacker.
Now back to Spurs, last season we played the majority of the time with right footed players in the LM position plus we often played Eriksson in that position then gave him a free role, which meant they went wondering and left no cover for Danny, plus I'm sure Sherwood told him to get forward to provide some width and attacking options on the left, THIS is what left us dreadfully exposed on the left, and lead to people saying Danny was way out of position, leaving Danny in a no win situation.
Now I'm not saying I think he's the best LB in the world but he's certainly not as bad as people make out, and I think this season with some better organisation and fewer injuries our defense should look loads better, I for one wouldn't mind seeing Rose and Davies playing LM and LB respectively for some games as they could solve the Left sided problem together.

Yes he has received some unfair stick and has had a very solid start to the season.

Him LB and Davies LM I don't agree with but having those 2 is good healthy competition for places and I see both improving in time.

So far right now Danny is looking a much better player and we look more solid defensively anyway.

He really needs to improve his delivery as he is a natural lefty he is strong and has bags of pace so gets in good attacking positions but wastes crosses etc.

Defensively he has looked great and did a Stellar job vs arsenal in the NLD very impressive!

Long may it continue.

I think you ought to admit you got it wrong and admit that the disparaging remarks against our player wasn't on.

By all means I want what's best for THFC and if that means Davies playing better and starting over than Rose then so be it...and you as a Spurs supporter should think the same.

You obvoiusly lack the eye to see that danny rose isnt quality. Ben davies is. You will see what will happen in the up coming coming game against city and you eat your words.
