Towards the end of the season he was one of our better players and covered us also in CDM which was a masterstroke by Poch..... can we upgrade on him yes should we yes but only if someone of the same level or better is available at a reasonable price
Ive seen some rubbish on this thread today, but 'masterstroke' might be my favourite.Towards the end of the season he was one of our better players and covered us also in CDM which was a masterstroke by Poch..... can we upgrade on him yes should we yes but only if someone of the same level or better is available at a reasonable price

Surely the better bet would be to bring in someone while he is still at the club rather playing russian roulette again in the summer.I completely understand the love for Rose. He is proper Spurs and he gets it. However, if Poch did want to sell him, I would completely back that decision. Since he has returned from injury, he has been unable to play more than once a week, and thanks to our European adventures, on most weeks we play at least twice. Add to that his performance stats have fallen notably last season. Obviously it’s easy to assess whether we sell Rose from an emotional point of view but I think it’s important to assess it from an objective point of view.
With Walker, Bale, Modric etc we were replacing a player being prised away by top clubs. In this and Trippier’s case we seem to be the ones pushing them out so it’s not unrealistic to think they’ve got an actual plan for replacements lined upThe club have rarely if ever moved an established first team player on and then replaced with better in the same window. Not optimistic at all we will do in this case
Everytime I think we have tried to do this we have made a right shit show of it.
We've always got plans...With Walker, Bale, Modric etc we were replacing a player being prised away by top clubs. In this and Trippier’s case we seem to be the ones pushing them out so it’s not unrealistic to think they’ve got an actual plan for replacements lined up
KWP is still at the beginning of his career, by his age Rose had appeared a total of 15 times for us, KWP has appeared six times.
Aurier so far has failed to live up to expectations admittedly, hopefully an injury free run can amend this.
He clearly has succeeded with Trippier. Poor season or not, Trippier arrived for a low fee, and is leaving for a multiple champions league finalist, recent league winner in a huge league, having been a starting right back at the last World Cup.
Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.
I repeat: Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.
While I too am against selling Rose, Davies clearly is good enough to start for a top 4 side because we’ve been a top 4 side for the past 4 seasons, and in the past 3 of those (including by far our two best league performances in terms of points and final position) and in those three seasons he’s started more than half our matches, 16 more than Rose in total, having started the same amount as Rose in 2 of those seasons and 16 more than him in the other.

Very interesting stat comparisons between Digne and the other top left backs in the league.
