Towards the end of the season he was one of our better players and covered us also in CDM which was a masterstroke by Poch..... can we upgrade on him yes should we yes but only if someone of the same level or better is available at a reasonable price

It wasn't really a masterstoke. Poch put him in midfield due to injuries, he didn't look completely out of place but he wasn't good in midfield either.

Digne would be ideal. So talented, young (25) and can actually cross. PL experience and the French connection would probably help.

Ive seen some rubbish on this thread today, but 'masterstroke' might be my favourite.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

This has been on the cards all summer really, he said about the club moving players on at a certain age and then Davies got a new contract. Shame but hopefully we have someone else lined up because there isn’t really any other need to sell him

The club have rarely if ever moved an established first team player on and then replaced with better in the same window. Not optimistic at all we will do in this case

Everytime I think we have tried to do this we have made a right shit show of it.

I completely understand the love for Rose. He is proper Spurs and he gets it. However, if Poch did want to sell him, I would completely back that decision. Since he has returned from injury, he has been unable to play more than once a week, and thanks to our European adventures, on most weeks we play at least twice. Add to that his performance stats have fallen notably last season. Obviously it’s easy to assess whether we sell Rose from an emotional point of view but I think it’s important to assess it from an objective point of view.

It was mistake to sell Walker we were totally unprepared to sell a player in his prime believing mistakenly we were going to be smart and sign someone better for half the price. DR been looking like he was recapturing form last season. This will be a mistake again

Surely the better bet would be to bring in someone while he is still at the club rather playing russian roulette again in the summer.

DRs commitment has never been questionable you don't replace that

With Walker, Bale, Modric etc we were replacing a player being prised away by top clubs. In this and Trippier’s case we seem to be the ones pushing them out so it’s not unrealistic to think they’ve got an actual plan for replacements lined up

Heres my small piece on Danny Rose.

It will be a real shame to see him go under such circumstances. Never nice to see a long term english yid depart, particularly one that has been part of so many memories. The best in the position ive seen and an absolute joy at the top of his game. Real heart.

However, I don't have the love of most spurs fans.

I think left back is a weakness and I don't think he was great last year, but better than previous years. I think his 'effort' and care is over-rated. I think almost every player cares, some show it more outwardly in moments of frustration and wasted energy. I think the end product was poor going forward, however the defending was very solid.

The injury record for a first choice though was really harming to the side and the interview, given years ago now, will never leave my mind on Danny. Some saw it as great, I hated everything it stood for as it disrespected everything we've built as a club. I know he was suffering at this time, but still. I think its clear that the injury, age and probable hangover from before are why he hasn't got a new deal to date.

Emotionally, I really wish the best for Danny. I hope his issues have been overcome and continue to be fought off. I commend his racism fight. I respect him fully and will always wish him well.

It might still be at spurs just yet, we shall see.

KWP is still at the beginning of his career, by his age Rose had appeared a total of 15 times for us, KWP has appeared six times.
Aurier so far has failed to live up to expectations admittedly, hopefully an injury free run can amend this.
He clearly has succeeded with Trippier. Poor season or not, Trippier arrived for a low fee, and is leaving for a multiple champions league finalist, recent league winner in a huge league, having been a starting right back at the last World Cup.

Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.

I repeat: Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.

While I too am against selling Rose, Davies clearly is good enough to start for a top 4 side because we’ve been a top 4 side for the past 4 seasons, and in the past 3 of those (including by far our two best league performances in terms of points and final position) and in those three seasons he’s started more than half our matches, 16 more than Rose in total, having started the same amount as Rose in 2 of those seasons and 16 more than him in the other.

This post is for you @doctor stefan Freud

Great post BBLG..... those Davies start stats has more to do with Rose being injured. You never convincung me that Davies is the better LB. Aaah man i love Danny Rose. Watching him bomb up and down that left side has been a thing of beauty. It has to come to an end for sure but i would have waited until next year. Absolutely loved Danny in a spurs shirt.

The best cross I remember him make was the Kolarov own goal. I wish he could have produced that type of cross more often.
And of course I can't think of any volley that is better than his in 2010.

Can someone please please put me out of my misery w.r.t the Rebrab post...im feeling like that old Geezer from 2 yrs ago (you lot treated him badly) who couldn't see the post. Fuck it was A&C who was the main culprit.

Edit... Okay never mind. I did a search on Rebrab and see it now. Im starting to seriously worry about my IQ. Was wondering HOW posters were coming up with Digne from that post(n) How did i not piece Dig & ne.

Very interesting stat comparisons between Digne and the other top left backs in the league.

“He has shown everything. He gives his team defensive reassurance and offensively he is like an attacker."
Blues boss Marco Silva echoed those comments, and revealed he wouldn't swap Digne for any other left back in the Premier League.

Doesn't look good for a swap deal then if he actually said and meant that.

Love Danny Rose, and I'll be genuinely sad if he goes.

However, I can kind of understand it. He's another in the squad that can't be relied upon to stay fit. He can really only play one game a week when fit, and he will miss games during the season.

Also, the way this has been reported, it seems like it's a mutual parting of the ways. Rose has said before that he wants to end his career up north, hasn't he? Perhaps we both see it as the right time to make it happen.

One thing that will be a problem, and I know this is boring stuff, but we will seriously be struggling on the HG front this season from the looks of it with Rose and Tripps both going.
