I agree with all of that but one of his best strengths, for those who watched him at palace, was getting on the end of things and scoring goals with his runs into the box. Isn’t that exactly what Ange wants from one of his eights? I can see the merits in him with being hg too.
Depending on the interest elsewhere, it's possible they price us out but sell him for a lower fee to someone like Wolves.
Yeah..but Gallagher? Ewwwwwwww.I thought this whole backing the manager thing meant getting players he wants.
But what if Ange wants him. What if Ange really thinks he'd be great in his system.
I think I’ve only seen him a handful of times, mainly at Palace, and while I’ve not been bowled over by him there’s definitely a player in there. He’s 23 and works hard. If the price is right then we could do worse. Would agree with others re not going over 30ish million for him, though. Anyone know how many years he has left on his contract?Yeah..but Gallagher? Ewwwwwwww.
Thought he was great at palace, but wouldn't pay anymore that £25m.Yeah..but Gallagher? Ewwwwwwww.
Yeah I don't think he'd be a disaster signing or anything, nor do I think he wouldn't be able to give us something, and it's also the type of signing that for £20m say, would look like arguably astute business, but for what he would probably cost you start to think that surely there are better options.
Like said I do see the appeal in what he could potentially provide, but I also struggle to argue with the view that he's fairly average and that a more mid-table side is his level.
Disagree.No thanks.
Spot on, he showed at Palace just how good he can be, his time at Chelsea has been pointless, he’s had injuries, he’s barely been given a run in the team and they’ve been a complete mess.Very decent at Palace then average at Chelsea.
Seems like a lot of people are basing their opinions on how bad he was in an aimless Chelsea team where everyone looked terrible. He does have a lot to offer if you use him in the right way.
I think if we want an all-action, goalscoring, homegrown midfielder to run around all day then he's a decent shout. Not 50m but in the current market probably 30-40m because he's PL proven and English.
Main problem is his passing but he's decent at everything else and a terrier off the ball.

I'd imagine HG is focusing the attention a bitAll those names are better investments
Well there Alex Scott for exampleI'd imagine HG is focusing the attention a bit

I know, I’m just fooling around, and if Postecoglou wants him then we should probably trust him and try. But not at the prices suggested as you both say. I personally don’t rate him, he’s hard working but limited. We already have a couple of players in that mould. Don’t see the wisdom in swapping Højbjerg for him for example. And if it’s his running and pressing we want, why not just use Skipp?Thought he was great at palace, but wouldn't pay anymore that £25m.
And besides, they won't deal with us and vice versa, which suits me fine.
I do wonder if Devine really impresses during preseason that he might get some of those minutes. He’s going to need to sooner rather than later.
It sounds like Gallagher is just one of the options, besides we have to move on Hojbjerg first so it might be all in vain anyway if we don’t.
