Writing was on the wall with Clarke though. When we were signing him I said he wasn’t a top talent and after he collapsed on the pitch he was very poor the rest of the season. He wasn’t even seen as the best talent at leeds st the time.We have this perfectly worked out: Wolves buy him. He steadily progresses, until he reaches Maddison's level in four years, which just happens to be the season Wolves get relegated. He has 1 yr left on his contract, and we poach him for 40m.
(I really should stop going to clairvoyants!!)
Seriously though... good move for Wolves. I just hope the lad will get a chance to play.
And let's face it... every single transfer for a player like this is a risk. We thought Clarke was going to develop into a very good player. But things happened, and he didn't get the chance to develop. Turns out, to some extent, we were right. But... the timing was wrong.
As suggested, we have bigger eggs to fry.
