Would absolutely take him for €6m. A no brainer at that price, especially with a coach like Ange who could very well turn his career around.

Affordable but too slow for a high line and not good enough.

Only way this makes any sense at all is if we want to use him as a cheap backup squad LCB cos atm we basically have none.

Would prefer him to Dier/Sanchez/Tanganga I guess but would be a compromise signing rather than what we need long term.

Wages are way too high for a backup

I'm surprised so many are turning their noses up at signing Lenglet.

The question should always be asked is he the best we have in his position (LCB) and the answer is yes.

With out history of signing centre backs, I'd much rather have him than not.

Sell everyone but Romero and Lenglet and then we should be buying 2 first team centre backs.

City have 5 top class centre backs. We have at a stretch 1.

12m and if he lowers his wages to a reasonable amount, why not?

Fans have been saying "sell everyone and buy new CBs" for about 4 years but it never happens. Would be v.surprised if we suddenly shifted all 4 of our weaker CBs (Dier, Tanganga, Rodon and Sanchez) in one window.

Tbh I'd be surprised if we got rid of more than 2 knowing how we do business.

Would rather we bought in a player that could be truly dominant and more athletic. We've signed too many of this type of player and not enough quality.

I think Ange will prefer the athleticism of another player. Especially in a high line. Lenglet isn't terrible but he is pretty average.

Our defence was dreadful last season and a clear out is needed. Lenglet was part of that defence. We would be mad to sign him. New broom.

Dier would get a buyer, could see Everton fancying that. Rodon probably similar as a home grown player. Tanganga seems to be fancied in Italy for some reason.

I think Romero is going to push to leave this summer and could see us getting good money for him.

Most players had a poor season, so maybe he would improve under the new set-up.

But based on what I have seen, I would be worried about him potentially blocking someone better coming in. It's not the transfer fee; it's being unable to move him once he's signed on high wages.

Thing is, again these are exactly the things everyone says on here every summer and we still can't seem to push through deals. So hard to shift players that are on higher wages than their talent warrants.

I guess we're more desperate than ever and are prioritising signing CBs so maybe things will be different but I still doubt we'll manage to get rid of more than 2 of the CB rejects tbh.

Think we need to keep Romero at all costs too (or at least pray Ange can win him over if he wants out). He's by a country mile the most suited to Ange's system and the best at passing through the lines.

I somehow doubt there'd be much competition to sign him, and our defence was horrendous last year, so probably not.

Barca desperately need to trim their wage bill so will probably sell cheaply from what I've read.
Reports have him on £7.5 million wages at Spurs so at the upper end on our wage list, can't say he's been that impressive so far but new manager so who knows.

I think Lenglet is pretty good. I don't think he is special or world class at all. But I guess without Europe should our expectations on signings be lowered ?
N.B. Would any of our younger centre backs from the 20s and 19s be ready to step up this season ?

Don't think we have any young CB's ready to step up.

Not suited to Ange's style of football IMHO.
If we still want him around as a stop gap, we should just extend the loan.
If we sign him on a permanent, he will become unshiftable deadwood by next summer.

Just don’t think he improves us. I’d be willing to sign others but will be intrigued to see how many we bring in and out. Sounds like high amount of each is planned. For me the key to the summer rebuild will be how many ins and outs there are. This will signal the intent and indication of support for ange. Presuming he is sanctioning a rebuild.
just hope that’s what happens.
wonder if a poll of how many ins and outs we need would be interesting?
I’d settle for 5 in and out first teamers.
gk, cb x2, mid, forward?
