Good to know that the match thread is as knee jerk as usual, with various people saying we are boring, Conte is rubbish, tactics aren't right, it's a Mourinho team etc etc. If people start on the comments saying they wish we had Potter in charge and/or a new creative midfielder then I would have a full house on my bingo card....

I don't think we have been as bad as some first half performances this season but feels like we need to put the pedal down more.

I don't see anything about Sporting - they are just a bit meh. We should be blasting teams like this.

Wasn't that with Vitoria?

Vitoria wanted 7.5m from Sporting and for that to happen Sporting would've had to have paid 15m in order to do so, they didn't wanna do that so we waived the 50% sell on fee to the next transfer so Sporting could pay Vitoria 7.5m

Pretty turgid stuff in that first half, but we've been like this most of the season so far. So slow and ponderous, creating very little.

As much as Son is being targeted as the obvious change up top, Kane is far too heavy footed and needs to sharpen his game up.

Kulusevski coming on is just a matter of when not if but hopefully it’s enough time to make an impact

Yep, Son’s done very little but Kane has been noticeably poor.

I for one wouldn’t mind seeing Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski.

I know he’s yet to feature barring a few mins but I would also bring Spence on for Emerson. Both teams are wide open, there’s plenty of room for a quick attacking wingback to take advantage of.

Kane not on it at all and seems unable to pass to a teammate. Him off, Richarlison to CF and Kulu on?
been no worse than son, played lovely ball in build up to ricarlisons header and through ball for the off side goal

With the exception of that last chance (which was exceptional) we've again kept them reasonably quiet, though tonight we look more vulnerable to the counter. Something that has been bugging me for a few weeks is the timing of Kane's passing. The last two seasons it's been en point. Released just at the right moment. But he seems to be a beat late and the runners are then either offside or marked. That's not helping Son either, who counts on the ball behind going at just the right time.

Anyway, they look tricky. Kulu for Son, I think, sooner rather than later.

Edwards and Trincao lively. Edwards looks the best player in the pitch. For us, Son and Perisic is looking decent but I can't see where chances are going to come from other than them. Richy getting into some great positions but there needs to be better supply from midfield and wing backs.

Sporting = more fluency and confidence in the way they play.
Spurs = more robotic and stifled by the system we’re playing in.

Too much restriction in Spurs players.
More freedom of expression with Sporting players.
I think it’s the players we have as well. Not much technical ability or playmaking ability.

It’s not the players…it’s the system.
It‘s a bit too safe….and so takes the fun, energy and creativity out of the equation somewhat.

Lack of possession wouldn't be bad if we actually looked incisive and dangerous when we did get the ball.

I just don't understand what our plan is in the final third. The players look like they don't know either.

I assumed we'd get a lot going forwards from our wing backs, but that's not really happening, despite Perisic being a class act.

We're basically playing with 10 men to accommodate letting Son play his way into form. Once he's back on it, the plan in attack will look a lot different.

Waived? We still have it. We didn't say nah it's all good we don't need the money
