Feel like we must be really convinced by this one (maybe HG related), if we don't move on. We haven't signed many players once negotiations have publicly reached this stage recently.

This! Like I keep saying we are already quite a bit higher than Forest but they are demanding far too much on top. They are saying but if he gets their he will be well worth the money. Our POV is that if he doesn't we have already well overpaid for a player with one good season in the Championship. We are already paying a premium because of CL etc, we aren't going to pay it twice.
Yeah, i'd understand it if the initial fee was lower to compensate as that would suit both clubs even, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Sounds like we will end up walking away from this deal. Will be pure comedy after too.

he was seen as disruptive before they decided to price him out of a move to a top PL club, CL football, to work with one of the world’s best managers and a significant pay bump!

Gibson will leave the office to find Spence taking a dump in his windscreen ?

Harry Brooks - football analyst and coach - just on a Twitter space giving insight into Spence’s attributes. Says he’s been pursued for his aggression, pace and ball progression but will need to work on his crossing as he often over runs it and has to cut back - not always successfully. Said he’ll have to work hard on it.

Sounds like we want to sign Walker 2.0…

Doesn't Walker play for a team that has won the league plenty of times?

And our decline began when Walker left.
I don't know that it was determinative, but it definitely coincided. 16/17 was our best season for God knows how long....and he left after it.

But while we never replaced him properly, it was other factors that played into it just as much. Rose's form declining, Dembele's injuries starting to play up. Wanyama going from a rock, to injured and unreliable. 16/17 was peak Eriksen too I think.

Anyway, good times...

Well I was told the same mate which is why I posted late last week but it can't be as otherwise we would have seen it rapidly accelerate as we wanted him in for the start of pre season today.

So like others have reported, it must be make or break time as Conte wants a new RWB with him for Korea.
Yeh, they are saying this is a massive game to Gibson. They expect it to happen soon after Spence turned up today for pre season training. Gibson thinks he looks a winner after made Spence turn up for training and then spurs caved and gave us what we wanted.

or at least thats the thoughts of someone who usually hears some things from the Boro end.

It was a myriad of factors. But Walker and Rose in the form of their lives in that 16/17 season were key to how we played and why we played so well.

Can't see Gibson giving a fuck about how it looks. Just wants to win the negotiation and get more money imo.

I wonder if theres any way we would consider Gorden as a viable alternative option for RWB. Although i still feel this gets done and i'm also sure Gorden is unlikely regardless. I just wonder if theres a moment where we take the allocated budget for Spence, maybe add a bit more, and offer it to Everton. I know its more of gamble, but looking at Gorden, I do think he could play that role with aplomb and may even have the greater potential.

Just thinking out loud and as i said, it would probably be the harder deal to do. Just thinking of HG alternatives as i would rather our remaining non HG spots went to players further up the pitch like at AM.

Gibson sounds like a bit of a knob

I say move on, then Gibson misses out by having to accept a lower bid from someone else and we potentially get in a better player anyway.

You mean Manchester ‘Globetrotter’ City? Walker’s a very good athlete but I don’t know how many assists he’d get in a Conte system. Just seems a bit unbalanced having Peresic crossing on one side and Spence not crossing on the other. When you look at Robertson & TAA contributions I don’t see why we don’t try to replicate that.

I very much doubt if Levy will except a % sell on fee.

They're even pushing their luck with CL appearances...
Yeah, have we ever agreed to one of those for any of our incoming transfers? It's like buy-back clauses. The first one I ever heard of us agreeing to was Reggy's (which was a shock).
