Umm, no! But kudos for editing your post after I'd responded. (y)

You literally said,

"The only point I have made is that if Dembele and Poch had a crystal ball and knew we would have ended up in a CL final, I have no doubt both would have come to conclusion that they could nurse him through an extra few months in order to play in the biggest game of his career and our recent history."

To which I responded thus

But, yeah. I said Dembele is shit & Sissoko is twice the player, even though I never mentioned Sissoko or his unquestionable footballing ability.

You're a bit strange.

You have completely made up an argument that I am angry at levy/the club/the board that they didn't foresee us getting to a CL final, and then proceeded to argue against it. You are essentially, arguing with yourself here.

Again, no!

Read the posts. It's really not that difficult. Then again, even after I quoted you, and quoted my response to your quote. You still somehow seem to think you didn't say what you said.

Don't know what more a person can do than quote the actual words used. I guess this forum lark is more complicated than I figured.

Edit: Now, if you'll excuse me, I have meds to take & laying down to do.

This is what you said:
So, in all reality. What you're really angry about, is the fact that none of Dembele, Poch or Levy had a crystal ball that could tell them that they'd be in a Champions League Final 5 months after they all came to an agreement that he could leave.

followed by: The club did nothing wrong by letting him go

Which is not what I said. I never said it was anyone's fault.

I'm really struggling to see what you can't understand. You seem to think I was having a go at levy or the club, which I wasn't.

Our downfall really started with the Walker sale, then the slow, injury-riddled decline of Dembele and was capped off with the general stagnation of the squad. It was like watching a train wreck at 5 mph. Slow, obvious and all we could do was watch it happen helplessly.

I think Walker was a massive loss but I don't think we fell off that much the next season. 17/18 was some of our best football IMO. That was the season we spanked Madrid, Dortmund & almost beat Juve. We were really good that season. Summer of 18 was what absolutely killed us. Stupidest thing I've ever seen a sports organization do.

walker was always leaving and a replacement of equal quality is a very tall order. Not promptly replenishing the midfield for 18 months killed us. Water under the bridge now.

I'm trying to work it out.

Vertonghen and Dier spoke of their team mate leaving and praised him as to how good he was in his prime.

The player himself said he couldn't physically handle the Prem anymore and readily moved to China.

But some want to criticise ENIC for this sale. Beggars belief to be honest.

People are literally going from thread to thread on this forum and doing mental gymnastics trying to twist every thread topic into an ENIC bashing exercise. It's getting tedious.

Opponents hated to play against him to the point that they even avoided duels. Nowadays there is not much to fear from our midfield, Man. City's midfielders had a very comfortable afternoon in the final.

Dembele is one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen. It's not until you see the contrast to what we play nowadays to where you truly appreciate what he did. We all knew he was special while he was here - I mean, we couldn't win without him. But now that he isn't here, it's just all the more apparent.

Was like playing with 3 midfielders all in one.

Officially retired. Age 34.

Such a great midfielder and as others have pointed out his sale really did start a decline after so much great promise at the club!

No one doubts how good Dembele was at his best.

But Dembele had only played 10 games in his last half season with us. He'd just had another ankle injury which had kept him out for 2 months. He also spoke publicly about how he was struggling and couldn't handle the Prem anymore.

But by all means quote a different player. Why you think that is valid as to where Dembele was by the stage he left us is truly beyond me. The lengths some go to in order to criticise the board.

There are plenty of valid reasons to criticise Levy and ENIC. You don't need to rewrite history.
Yep, bit of rewriting history for some here I think. The Dembele we let go was a shadow of what he was.
Thats why he didn't leave for a bigger club. World beaters dont leave and head for China.
Nobody can deny he was top drawer in his day and we haven't replaced him quality wise yet.... or have we? We'll see.

It’s not as if we didn’t spend a lot of money trying to replace him either.

God bless him. He was one of our finest over the last 10 years or so. I hope he's made plenty of money.

What a player he was, we never truly replaced him. But then there aren't many that can run a game like he could!
