Well we got our Tottenham back. All the possession all the shots but undone by a stubborn team that put everyone behind the ball and score with their only attacks. Surely we are all happy now?
TBH I am a bit happier . Obviously I’d prefer us to win but I’d rather get beat having a go than the trudge we’ve been playing in previous weeks and still getting beat.

Only thing needed to complete the doom & gloom is an Arsenal win to take them above us.... we lost; but I genuinely felt we were the better team today. More performances like the last 45 mins will see us picking up points. I can easily see Jose staying and a few defensive additions made in the summer. I’m not saying I want this, necessarily, but I can see this as the more viable outcome. Maybe we’ll get a large amount for Kane, and start over. Sad as it may seem

Firstly, act like a dick all you want, don't bother me.

Secondly, no, people were literally saying what the poster you quoted said - on this forum.

They didn't care if we lost, as long as we had a go - in some circles.

It's not deflection. In fact what you're doing is deflection or if you'd prefer the classic 'moving the goal posts' now it's another caveat on top of the first set of claims.

It's boring, because like under Poch when we struggled and people gave plenty of good, balanced reasoning when things were not so good (this is before the end) the exact same thing would happen - goal posts would be moved.

No, no gravitas needed, it's just changing an argument to keep creating an argument.

Have at it mate, dog with it's own tail, comes to mind with your post.

To me It’s deflection because its ignoring what’s happening on the pitch and just trying to dig out posters who said throwaway comments on a message board during or after a game that really has no bearing. It has no relevance to the football or how Mourinho is doing here.

A few weeks ago people were saying they'd rather see us lose and give it a go than watch the stuff we were being served up. Not everyone, of course but more than just a few. It seems they weren't exactly being honest. I'm 'shocked' :D

How can it have no relevance when people posted about it in the first place? You keep twisting shit.

weren’t you saying last season he was getting us solid at the back first then he’d work on us going forward. Has he failed at achieving that in your opinion?

this was the issue I was arguing about even then that there wasn’t going to be a natural progression from defending so deep with numbers to looking a well balanced side in attack.

Agenda? Deflection seems to be only way to be the only way to defend Mourinho
At this point in time yes, he has failed. I'm mystified at it tbh because, when we reached the top of the league, it was evident that he'd got them working that way. I've pointed the finger at the players justifiably I feel, but they continue to make these errors, so JM definitely has to take some of the blame there as it's on him to get these issues rectified.

Can you explain how we've gone from an evidently well drilled defensive unit to a sack of shit in just a few weeks? You like to ask these questions, maybe you'd like to offer your own take?

As you seem to have gone through my previous posts regarding the defensive side, maybe you'd like to comment on my posts where I stated that the transition from defence to attack would be the next step and likely the hardest?

As to your last comment, seriously? What deflection is there? There were constant hammering for a more attacking mindset, with the "I can take losing as long as we show some attacking intent" comments coming out fairly frequently.
Well now we have that and we lost, with the same posters still voicing their displeasure.

And you accuse me of deflecting?

Comical.

I'm kind of here for these match. For so many of the last few years it's us who's been chasing top four, had all the pressure on us, and they've just turned up to play above themselves and piss on our chips. It would be sweet to burst their bubble (sorry) tomorrow.
Naw, we just shat the bed as usual.

We didn't deserve to lose that, no way. There are shoots of hoping springing up, Bale seems to be getting his act together and if we could find a few defenders who aren't going to make mistakes on a regular basis, it could all turn around in the space of a few games. Will it do that? I've no idea, but as frustrating as the mistakes are, if we can manage to cut those out we aren't totally without hope.

The strange thing I am not raging about this.
.
The even more stranger thing is I decided to take the mutt out for a walk to clear the head, I live in the back of beyond and rarely see another human being down my lane - As I was near home on the way back the dog got a bit edgy, he knew someone was behind us - I turned to find a guy walking behind us and I immediately noticed he was wearing running/jogging gear and when I looked closed he was wearing the navy blue Spurs tracksuit bottoms with the pink cockerel badge. Turns out he lives about a mile away near the sea and he had the same idea, took to the lanes to walk off his disappointment.

He must have thought I was a loon when I saw the trackie bottoms and just said "Fuck me you must be brave to come out wearing that after that game" but quickly added I was a Spurs fan too. We had a good old chat for a while after that. Just all seemed surreal

Although Jose isn't to blame for individual errors, he does continue to pick the players responsible.

He's changed the entire back line, and the midfield even within the last week

Who else do you think he should pick outside of the available options? Who do you think should come in for the players "he keeps picking"

I’m talking about what is happening on the pitch not point scoring on what a couple of posters have said in a throwaway remark. I’m not twisting anything you’re just having trouble getting the point. I’ll try an extreme example, if a couple of people on here with tongue in cheek said we should play Sanchez up front then a couple weeks later Mourinho tried it and it didn’t work then arguing that a couple of people on here suggested it so it’s not on the manager is a bit silly

Yes, so were the posters you're talking about.

Keep going.

Never expected Bale to be an automatic starter but still sure Mourinho could have managed it better, there were times when it seemed he was almost trying to humiliate him and you could argue it's only through the inepitude of others therefore sheer necessity he's got his chance today, anyhow at least it's happened and don't want to see him anywhere near the side on Thursday and let's start him next sunday.

I haven't got a dog but that's exactly what I did I went out for a couple hours walk to clear my head, luckily for me I can get out into countryside and not too many people were around to see me walking with jacket on and retro Admiral 77-78 Spurs top flapping in a gentle breeze. I've not long got back. My other half enjoyed her moment of glory and luck in her Betway top as she's a Spammer, so that was definitely another good reason to take off out into the open air to walk it off ☺.

Dier and Lamela should not start for the rest of this season IMO

Dire defender (slow thinker) and Lamela nearly always gets booked for clumsy tackles

Dele did another stupid back flick to an opponent - will he never learn?

Bale and Doherty combined well

Again, a measured and reasonable post. I do enjoy a reasoned argument with someone who at least tries to see from the other perspective.

Your take on the back 4 tinkering I couldn't agree with more. As another poster on here has already said (forgive me whoever that was, I can't remember who you are), pick your partnerships and stick with them.

Again I didn't see today's game, so I don't know what our transition was like. Having said that, we had 70% of the possession, so it appears transition wasn't the issue. From what I'm reading, we struggles to break down what sounds like 2 banks of 4 defending, an issue we've had for years, but we were also profligate in our finishing.

What is telling for me is that a few of the more "level headed" posters on here have said that we certainly didn't deserve to lose. This seems to be borne out by the stats, so I'm optimistic that going forward, we will see a change in fortune and will start picking up wins deservedly.

Lastly I will say that it really doesn't bother me that JM is disliked by yourself or others, that's a personal thing, much like what type of Football you find entertaining. I quite like the man, and I enjoy his brand of Football when it's done right. We're not seeing that atm, but I believe we will if he's given the time to get things sorted. But I also understand that he's not doing himself any favours by chopping and changing on a weekly basis. Confidence is a MASSIVE part of every player's game, so he has to start instilling that by showing some faith in players and let them play through their issues by choosing his starters regularly and sticking with them for more than 1 or 2 games.

We’ve been through 10 different managers under Levy. Ten!! So if we sack Jose and get someone else in, what exactly will be any different? Just another manager being hung out to dry by the current owners. Sure, we are probably slightly better off than we were in the nineties, but if that is good enough for you then fuck off and support West Ham!! ENIC are the problem and until they are gone we are going nowhere!! Fact.

And the trajectory has always been up across the ten tenures. I don't understand your point.

Not fair to slate Dele Alli. C’mon the guy hasn’t been playing regular for ages
