That 40 games thing isn’t complete bullshit. Obviously Poch hasn’t picked a number games he’s guaranteed to play but at Madrid it doesn’t really matter how well you play because when the chosen ones are fit/available it’s back on the bench. Poch will definitely be able to guarantee any player the chance to play as many games as they want provided they impress in training

Our biggest weakness over the past couple of seasons has been an over reliance on a small number of players. Addressing the lack of quality depth in our squad is vital, and if they're good enough there's plenty of game time to go round IMO.

Never ever will Sissoko be a back up after the season hes just had
As much as Sissoko was brilliant last season, if we want to start consistently controlling games in midfield then I don't think he should be a guaranteed starter. His passing came on leaps and bounds and his bursts forward were great, but he's still quite erratic in possession and unimaginative on the ball. He'll start plenty of games, but there will also be plenty of matches better suited to other midfield combinations.

None of them should/will be guaranteed starters...That is what Poch is trying to do. Create competition

I agree, my son got my phone whilst I was having a kip and made the comment. He loves Sissoko??

Dani Ceballos completed the most dribbles, won the most fouls and created the most chances at the 2019 UEFA U-21 European Championship.

• 19 dribbles completed
• 18 fouls won
• 14 chances created

Whilst he made 'team of the
tournament ' this year, he was voted 'best player' at the 2017 U21 tournament.

If this lad gets his head down and nails down a starting berth, I believe that regular participation will see him evolve into a real top talent.

Dead silence on this in English media but being talked about all across Spain. Reminds me of the early stages of the Ndombele deal, where there was nothing but interest being reported in England while there were reports of intense talks in France.

Difference is the Spanish media is far, far worse than the French media.

True, but they're rarely all in agreement unless there's at least something going on. No smoke etc.
Are they all in agreement though? Plenty of reports in AS but not much elsewhere. And I'm not sure it matters if all the outlets are shite.

Is Paul Brown considered decent over here? He was reporting Ceballos today. I think I’d seen his name tagged with stuff about Clarke & Ndombele.

He writes for the Daily Star which is instantly a big warning sign but he doesn't seem to be a complete numpty.

You sure it was us? They suddenly started talking about Utd and Maguire, probably trying to make themselves feel better.
Yeah I glossed over that too quickly and missed the that he was replying to someone else

The links from Spain have been so strong but I can’t help but think that it’s a sweetener for eriksen.

If it means we get both Lo Celso and Ceballos from Eriksen going to Madrid then I think it's a good deal for us.

I think it’s a fair attempt at replacing Eriksen yes. But as much as Lo Celso and Ceballos are highly rated, we’re losing a player who has been immense for us, regardless of how his last few months have went.

The two Spaniards could very easily flop when arriving and many people think they’re instantly gonna hit the ground running. It may not be the case.
