Normally I'd agree, but in this case I'd just pay the money.

It's a great opportunity to start putting a real gap between us and the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in terms of the quality in our squad.
What money is that though? The price they quoted that we agreed? The price they changed to after that? The price they change it to after we agree that?

While our lack of transfers hasn't been ideal we do have to remember how much has been pumped into our wage budget to keep the talent we already have. When we sign e.g. Kane up to £200k per week for five years, that's £50m right there. Well worth it obviously, but a large expense nonetheless.
We literally have the lowest wage to turnover ratio in the premiership. To put in perspective, we are 5% below the minimum percentage to be paid under the NBA salary cap. The MINIMUM.

Very quiet today...

Anyone get the feeling this deal might be done, and Lyon just want to delay the deal until after they’ve got their replacement?

When's that figure from? Does it take into account new contracts for Kane, Dele etc? Plus, you'd expect the club to have the lowest since we've taken on by far the most debt with the stadium development - it's how far behind the field we're maintaining.

There’s also some really dodgy “NDombele sister’s classmate” type “ITK” making the rounds too. This thing needs to end ffs.

I know someone who knows a guy whose ex-girlfriend was friends with the janitor who used to work at N’Dombele’s sister’s classmate’s school; therefore, I wouldn’t discount things you hear emanating from that source.

That's mostly due to the, frankly absurd, increase in our turnover over the last few years.

Prior to the stadium project starting in earnest we maintained a ratio around 55% I think (it might have been around 60%) and I expect us to head back towards that now. It's always been wages that are the deciding factor in a transfer and Levy's drive to increase turnover (via the new ground) has always been about allowing the club to compete sustainably on that front.

Contrary to popular belief, he's never been afraid to shell out in terms of transfer fees, but competition on wages has seen us miss out on players in the past. The thing I suspect he has beef with now is the fees agents are demanding for doing fuck all other than look for the biggest payday they can get.

It's really bizarre to me that the sequence of events has been spelt out by their owner and yet people are still being fragile about it, at least wait for that checkpoint to pass.

Past experience pal, past experience.

Past experience pal, past experience.

I appreciate that but when the chairman of the rival club literally says they need to get somebody in before selling the player we want, it's then reported they have agreed a deal for a midfielder who will have a medical on Monday, it's plain fucking stupid to throw the teddys out the pram before that moment is reached.

Exactly. I’m quietly confident we will see developments on this towards the middle to back end of next week.

Past experience pal, past experience.

Exactly. We’ve been here before so many times. I’m amazed at the confidence people are showing.

I accept that the circumstances (ie our profile) are different, but in every other window, ever, the way the Ndombele transfer ends is by going to someone else.

I really hope this is the is the start of something different!

Nobody is doubting they will sell the player. You have to excuse the panic stations - it comes with supporting Spurs and unfortunately our transfer activity / strategy has left a lot be desired over the last few years so when we go in so early for a top player of course it is only natural that when it drags on people will start to worry. Only time will tell whether they were right all along to worry or not.

If you are relaxed about it good for you. We were told similar last season not to worry everything was in hand and we had millions to spend etc so you have to cut people slack. Aulas owes us nothing, he will sell his player to whoever pays the most - of course the player would also need to agree. If the replacement has medical and signs on Tues / Weds do you believe that the deal with Spurs will be rubber stamped straight away? These things don’t work out that way and the longer it goes on the more chance of it not happening.
