Same old England really, so much hope let down by bang average footballers.

Same old team selections too, I think if I was on the books at a top six club I would have won my 50th cap tonight.

The technical ability of some of the dutch players is lightyears ahead of some of our players.

I'd like to criticise england. But lets be realistic the pre-match squad practice was non-existant thanks to the tight schedule next to the champions league.
One thing i definitely am fed up with is playing out from the back. Its never reassuring. Get rid of it.

But the entire defence were poor and none of them were involved in the CL final.

Sat off and let them play their way back into the game when we should have pressed home our clear advantage at the time. Marking from corners was simply dreadful. Individual mistakes my son wouldn’t have made. Play the way you are facing. Especially when you are the last man. Fucking hell its not rocket science.

Yes, I agree but I think they should go back to the old rule and flag immediately when the offside is seen. It’s such a waste of time waiting for the player to approach the ball before flagging. Not one of the better improvements to the game.

That's not what they're doing now. They play the advantage to the attacking team rather than stopping play for what could be a bad decision. With VAR play continues until the ball either goes out or ends up in the net. Then you get the flag/VAR check. The Sterling goal that was chalked off in the game against us is a good example of how it can play out.

Technically inferior.

Having said that you swap TAA for Walker and Winks for Delph and a starting Kane and we are a much better outfit.

There's no excuse for such brainfarts in defence even if they are exhausted after a long season.

The thing is Stones is good on the ball, but not as good as he thinks. He has tried to take too much liberties today and it's cost them. I'm all for playing out from the back but not trying to dribble out from the back, just move the ball.

As for Barkley, he's supposed to be looking around and seeing what's around him before receiving the ball. De Jong wouldn't have got caught out like that.

In the 90 minutes Barkley was the best midfielder on the pitch. Unfortunately he had nothing alongside him other than two water carriers who aren’t good enough technically nor move the ball quick enough.

Stones is hilariously poor, as is Walker.

We started with out third choice midfield, shy of our best forward and captain and no Trent, who is easily our best full back.

We played well considering, against an overrated Dutch side granted, but we were hardly played off the park!

Sky keep talking about playing out form the back as if that was the problem. the system is just fine, the problem was individual mistakes for players. that's why pep stopped playing stones and got rid of Joe hart when he got there.

some players are prone to fuck about with the ball at their feet

Yeah - just at the end of regular time, Maguire got mugged off the ball in the box - and should have led to a goal.

'Slightly off topic"
I didn't watch the match tonight - my season finished last Saturday night. But I did read elsewhere today that West Ham are about to do a double swoop for both Stones and Maguire.

To be fair if they are ordered to do this when it’s beyond their technical ability then the finger has to pointed at the manager
No, it ain't the manager's fault. They don't order a player to do this 100% of the time. There may be a strategy/preference to play the ball out from defence, but it's up to the player to use his intelligence and discretion as to when, where and how to do this. Stones lost his concentration and focus in two key situations, and the game was gone.
