What do people think his best position is?

Still think centrally behind the striker.

He is good in the air and at timing runs into the box.

Because of his physicality he can play deeper but he’s a limited passer and won’t get the best out of

What do people think his best position is?

Playing as a support striker - basically the position he played in in 2016/17.

Would have thought that he'd be starting to transition to play in a 4-3-3 by now but his touch is too loose and he takes too long to make a decision on the ball, that's what the management need to work on in the summer going forward because I feel that he can be a brilliant player playing as a 3rd CM

This is what I thought too, seems strange that for someone that came through the ranks playing cm for mk dons that he can't play in a midfield 3. He probably played in a 442 when he was with them as well. Just watched his highlights from when they beat man u and he almost seems like a different player.

It's a bit weird that Poch toyed with a winning formula so much this season. It's good to mix things up and have options, but our all round play has been a lot less effective and easy on the eye this season. Of course a lot of that comes down to the bjillion mitigating factors, but the point remains - we had a system that worked really well and we've switched it to a couple of systems that don't work as well, and now some of our best players look less effective (i.e. Alli). Even in the first half of the season when we couldn't seem to stop winning we were still a couple of notches below our 16/17 form and often a bit shit.

I hope some new signings and a full pre-season give Poch the chance to reevaluate and hit upon something better.

Wasn’t he injured on 3 separate occasions this season? Then in the last qtr of the season he was playing with a broken hand. I think he deserves a bit of leeway.

Definitely needs a kick up the arse, though, as has been said. Not helped by the fact that he knows, if fit, he walks into the starting 11. That needs to stop. If he puts together 5 or 6 bad performances on the bounce someone else needs to be given a crack. That’s the other problem we’ve had this season as he’s not the only person who’s been injured.

Still love him but he needs to pull his finger out and Poch needs to get him back to where he was a couple of years ago.

I personally think he's in danger of left behind for club and country if he doesn't step his game up or adapt his game. His best position for me has always been as a shadow striker, but top teams don't really have room for the type of position anymore.

If we actually show a bit of ambition in the transfer window this summer he could find himself on the bench next season. For England, I think the writing is already on the wall for him. When everyone is fit, he doesn't play.

He's still a massive, massive talent. With a proper pre season I'm sure he'll find his stride. If he's ever going to reach his full potential is however up to himself.

Played pretty much a 433 when dele was there with the odd occasion 4411 where dele would play behind the striker.

Dele was excellent in using the ball from midfield and had a good scoring rate from outside the box.

Yep, don't think the switch this season to a diamond 4-4-2 has helped him at all. A return to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with Alli linking with Kane would see him back to his best I think.

I dont think the diamond suits any of our players really so I don't understand why we insist on playing it. Injuries obviously played a part I suppose

He needs to look in the mirror and ask himself; ' Do I want to leave the game as a legend?Do I want medals and trophies?' Any reasonable person would answer 'yes', for Alli to attain the status of legend he needs to work so much harder on his game and his physicality, he oozes talent but seems to have forgotten that the harder you work the better you'll become. He's been in cruise control for the past two seasons and is in very real danger of regressing.

I don't believe his regression this year has been to do with a lack of drive or effort.
When Dele burst onto the scene he was fearless, I have never seen a player that young be so confident in himself and his own ability. Nothing phased him and in his first 2 seasons he contributed more than some of the best players that ever have played in the EPL managed in their first few seasons.

But I don't see the same fearless character at the moment and to be honest haven't for quite some time now. Hopefully Poch has a plan in place for him because we cant afford to let that Dele disappear.

People have insanely short memories here. Around the the time of the Arsenal league cup match and when we were trouncing Everton 6-2 he was playing really, really well. He'd finally shook off the WC hangover and hamstring injury and was getting back to his best.

Then he got injured against Palace, was rushed back and never looked the same in the 2nd half of the season.

I do agree that there was question marks over how he fits into our new-look side next year, given there will be changes, but I still have no doubt of his quality and that he will come back strong.
