They will take it to CAS and it may get overturned. But very unlikely that will happen for this summer took Barcelona 4 months to get a verdict.

Yeah but I think the point is that stalling by taking it to the CAS means the ban will be delayed as well, so even if they know they're banged to rights they can still appeal it and then make loads of signings this summer in preparation for their ban. They'd be majorly fucked if they couldn't sign anyone as of now but that's not going to happen I don't think

They've confirmed they are taking it to CAS.
That basically gives them a free run on the summer window as it opens next Friday and it will probably be August before CAS even look at the case.

Yep clearly will get frozen while they investigate.

They will go big this summer and then miss the next two

I just realised the ban is for 4 windows, not 2. They're kinda fucked :playful:

Except they’ve 42 players to return from loan. So they’ve plenty of options. What would have been lovely would have been a ban on loaning, buying and selling. Then they’d be truly screwed.

They can still buy players but not register them until either 1. CAS throw out the case, or 2. they uphold the ban and they serve it.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure that with cases in the past the punishment has basically been put on hold until the appeals process is completed, so based on that I assume they'll still be able to do what they want until the CAS have made the decision one way or the other. Right?

This is CAS tough not the FIFA appeal. They'd need some sort of initial decision from CAS for the ban to be temporarily lifted pending the outcome.

And that's what it said on Sky Sports anyway, so must be true :cautious:

edit - that's not to say they won't ask CAS for an interim ruling. But as things stand now the above is the position

Ah fair play. Guess we'll have to wait and see then. My gut feeling is that they'd have that interim ruling granted purely on the basis that if they uphold the ban for now, but it gets lifted in 6 months time once the CAS has made their decision, the damage will already be done so they can't really take it back if the CAS find them not guilty. So from a practical standpoint it just makes sense to delay the ban until the decision is definite I suppose. Just my guess anyway, obviously I've no real idea what they'll say. Just seems to make more sense to me anyway.

They're still in a less than enviable position. Best player in the league almost certainly leaving; uncertainty around their manager, whom no-one from the fans to the players seems that keen on; sugar daddy owner taking more of a back-seat, and less willing to compete at the top end of the market for signings.

Sure they'll still sign at 6 players we want though.

Give it a week or so and there should be more news on this. No doubt they will be asking for an interim ruling, woudl be stupid not to.

I believe that uefa have previously said that the ban remains in place at all times , unless an appeal is successful. Ban remains while any appeal is being dealt with. Obviously had enough of others manipulating appeals so they can have a splurge.

Oh shit....does that mean my mate Hazard will be staying ??...
Only if he also signs a new contract, which he appears to have no intention of doing.

He'll leave for big money now or on a free next summer. The former is a lot more likely.

Time for them to have a look at the 42 players they have out on loan. Surely some talents there they can choose
