On the injury front we need Aurier back more than anyone. Trippier has been awful, his delivery isn't even good anymore. Why the hell Walker-Peters isn't playing I don't know.

If Son, Sissoko, Aurier and Lamela are all available for the second leg then i'll be confident we can get a result.

I'm all in on Foyth, I know he has a mistake in him, but he is so composed on the ball and in the pressure cooker that is a semi final, it might make the difference. I'd risk Foyth at rb

Foyth made the chance all by himself against West Ham for Janssen by taking on the defender and putting in a decent cross, that for me is enough evidence that he can cut it at RB for now anyway.

Just watched 1st half again and think Ajax performance has been majorly overrated. The first 10 minutes they had bit more of ball but didn’t do anything with it. They then had a good spell for 10–15 minutes when they scored and had 1 other shot. As soon as we went to a 4 on about 25 minutes it evened out. It’s not like they had chance after chance or were just tearing as apart at will. Wanyama was embarrassing though literally like a traffic cone. They are good but not exceptional. We certainly have every chance in Amsterdam.

Totally agree. Winks and Sissoko would have more than matched them. They are good, we are better.

Atmosphere was awful and if you think head tennis is ok then go watch 4th league football. Today’s tactics was not acceptable.

Where were you sitting then if you say the atmosphere was awful. I was in the West stand and the noise was amazing, it really reverberated around the ground. Second half I thought we really got behind the team and could hardly hear the Ajax fans.

Maybe you are right and my standards are too low but I am proud of the team. We put effort in in the second half and whilst it wasnt anywhere near our best we took the game to a team that has played both Real Madrid and Juventus off the park. Maybe it is you that should fuck off and support another team that guarantees glory and success all the time if a champions league semi final is not good enough for you.

Agree, a lot of great ball playing CBs, such as Ledley, Jan and Toby, made there name in other positions at DM and FB. It gives you time to develop your defensive skills away from the centre, but also you develop your ball playing skills too.

You're bang on. The way those pundits were commentating you'd have thought Lloris was making save after save.
We have the ball around the edge of the box and in the final 3rd with no end product its 'lacking a cutting edge', they do it and they're fkin amazing.
We were piss poor though until Sissoko came on and then we bossed it. Just nothing upfront.

They have a cup final next Sunday btw before our game - 17:00 kick off.

It all helps.
They will probably pospone
Your perception is warped. But whose isn't these days?

I doubt we'll win, we're just too exhausted and demoralised but It was very apparent, even during the early bad spell, that they are not a substantial side. And so it proved after our enforced substitution. The merest amount of effort and enthusiasm turned the game on its head when by all rights they should have been putting us to the sword. We've played against Barcelona and Messi, for god's sakes, the difference is stark.

We are weak, wounded and limping to the finish line, a shadow of ourselves... there's no need to give our opponents too much credit.

I agree. We are tired and injured and it's showing lately in our last couple of games. I have no doubt in my mind had we been able to put out our best side with Kane and Son and Winks and a fit Sissocko and the Deli of last year we would have put them away quite comfortably. It's sad that we got this far and avoided Barcelona and got Ajax and couldn't deliver because we didn't have the back up in the squad. However If Son gets a couple of goals in the return then Who knows. It may seem that it is but it's not over yet.

I'd play him in midfield with Sissoko and have Moura, Eriksen, Alli and Son.
That does leave the rb problem though.
Maybe Foyth at rb and Dier or Wanyama with Sissoko.
I can tell you who I definetly wouldnt play. Trippier, Sanchez and Llorente.

Lloris
Foyth Toby Verts Rose
Sissoko Dier or Wanyama
Moura Eriksen Alli
Son
And hopefully be capable of getting up the pitch in under 15 mins.
I think that team would beat Ajax.

The other thing that struck me was they had no idea how to handle Llorente or anything in the air. They put together some nice passing moves, but so did we. Quite looking forward to the 2nd leg with nothing to lose and hopefully a few players back.

The more I think about the second leg, the more confident I am that we can turn it around.

If we just forget about yesterday and think of it as a one-off game which we have to win, it still sounds entirely possible. We have played them at home (in games where they've previously beaten Juve and absolutely bossed Madrid), and there clearly wasn't much between us. For them to be protecting a lead going in to the second leg is completely different, as they have something to lose. We don't. Plus, the most obvious point is that we will be stronger with Sissoko and Son starting, and hopefully at least one of Dele or Eriksen turn up.

I always find we fare better as underdogs. Perhaps yesterday's result might work in our favour. :)

Some of the criticism here is frankly ridiculous. Although given I spent the whole game with some utter morons constantly shouting abuse all game I'm not surprised. Shouting **** this and retard that, even referring to them as German ****s at times the fucking idiots. It's actually embarassing that we have fans like this.

We're punching above our weight with a depleted squad. The effort was not lacking last night just the quality available to us. I just wish certain fans would actually be proud and appreciate what we're doing. The same fans who probably rant about the lack of signings before the seasons and would not give us any hope of making the CL semi finals. Yet we make it here and still they love a rant.

The game is about Glory. Something us Spurs fans have been deprived for so long.
