What really winds me up is all we hear is how players want to play in the big games, the CL. Well tonight was the CL semi final and Dele & Eriksen were nowhere to be bloody seen. Foyth made more incisive runs than Dele!!! So frustrating to see them hide, we weren’t playing fucking Barca!! They had a chance to show they were big game players but really failed. Shite.

Lol just got in and out on the highlights. Apparently they played the champions league song. Thought they’d forgotten. Literally didn’t hear a bar of it i the south stand

Back to the hotel now myself.

Great atmosphere before the game and first 10 mins. Ajax started great and killed us for 30 mins. Sissoko coming on changed it and ajax did not like our pressing game at all.

As for us well another silly goal conceded. Think poch picked the wrong starting 11. We've zero threat too at the moment so I worry about the weekend nevermind next week. Hopefully son back reignites us somehow.

If you’d said to me in August win away at Ajax and you’ll be in a CL final I’d have bitten your hand off. I reckon they’ll be as nervous as f*ck.

I think they will regret not finishing us off because at 2-0 it may have been over. Im just so so damn confident we will beat them - and I was shit nervous at 3-0 first leg with second leg away to Dortmund haha

Kwp should start on Saturday, if he plays well he should play again in amsterdam.

I'm not even a huge fan of his tbh, but we need fresh legs, some youthful exuberance and pace down the flanks

I hope you’re right but I’m not confident, he looked really bad as he went off

I think he will be ok maybe not for Bournemouth but yeah it was really bad and didnt realise how bad until just watching it on TV - didnt realise how much blood

Concussions (bad ones) can take over a week to get over and Jan’s Looked bad. I hope he is ok, for us and for him as I imagine he can’t wait to play a CL semi final back where he started. Fingers crossed

It’s weird it’s just a different mindset. They have everything to lose we have everything to gain. A bit like when we went to Chelsea at 1-0 in carabo cup always felt dodgy. We score first then we have big advantage with away goals. Every goal we then score they need 2.

Put it this way - even if they score one, it doesnt change anything, we will always need two to win. First goal is crucial and we will need to start fast the way they did and have no doubt we will start fast. Need another Man Shitty two goal in ten minutes burst

Absolutely. Certain players bottled it. Dele, Eriksen and Toby imo to name three. Two of them want out too

These are the types of players who contribute to the failures of the side

I think we will know in a few days but if the Doctor thought he was initially ok to come back on then I dont think it was too bad but bad enough to have been withdrawn. We will see because he is vital.

Just got home.

Honestly think we can go to Holland next week and get the result we need to get into the final, especially with Son back in the side and Sissoko starting.

Going to a four at the back and giving us that extra body in midfield really helped.

Hopefully with Son coming back, we'll have that extra bit of potency up top too.

Jan passed all concussion tests tonight apparently. Some follow up tests tomorrow.

I think the dizziness might have been the blood loss.

I think he'll play in the 2nd leg.

Poch had a massive brain fart when he went with 3 CBs. Left us far too light in midfield, which was particularly evident when we tried to transition from defence to attack.

The problem with 3-5-2 is that when it comes up against a 4-3-3 (as again tonight) the centre backs immediately call the wing backs to tuck in and it becomes 5-3-2. You then have their fullbacks open to switch the play to constantly, our cm3 chasing across to cover and eventually cant keep doing this, and the opposition drag them about until gaps open up in more dangerous areas. Then when we get the ball, it becomes so hard to build attacks when we have so many players back in defensive areas, and being very narrow.

It's got to be knocked on the head, I just don't like how it plays out.
And this goes back to my problem with Poch and his tactics. I first brought it up in his 2nd year and posted in the tactics thread. Perhaps Dier wasn't fit for tonight but his value has always been proclaimed to be his versatility yet Poch doens't utilize a pendulating DM. If Dier started we could have begun with any formation and changed between them. If he is going to keep playing units instead of actual footballing MFers then why not utilize the flexibility? And by now our players should be able to flexibly switch on the fly without having to wait for fucking HT changes. It is ridiculous with such a settled squad. The fact we went a whole half getting murderlized by poor starting tactics is criminal.
