Half an hour to queue up to buy a beer isn’t acceptable. There is no form of queuing system. The beer pumps were not working properly and the poor staff (who didn’t have a clue) were poring part pints and then having to ‘make’ pints by filling a single glass from multiples by hand. It took forever. The concourses were chaos at every level and at all the time.

Doubt I’ll ever get to go down to the Marketplace - there is a capacity of 3.5k and of course people get there early. Because it’s like a sports bar people do not get a drink and stand back or leave. They remain in situ or sit on the stairs down to it. The club will not sell much food down there because of this lack of flow. Fans will find alternative ways to eat and drink (outside) and it will get down to a more manageable level in all probability.

My view in the South Stand upper is good as a view goes but I feel detached from the game, as I used to sit on the Shelf. I’m very conscious I’m just a very small spec amongst the 60k fans now and my view of the opposite end is not great in comparison. You get what you pay for I guess. Getting to the loo at halftime was also a struggle - glad I only managed to get that 1 pint! My transport has been affected (negatively) also.

I have not been blinded by the new stadium, and will wait for quite a while to draw my final conclusions on it. But there could be a chance of ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ for me. I hope I’m to be proved wrong though.

A corporate juggernaut rolling forward. Maybe me being naive in my expectations though.

Yeah you should wait as It was the first match at max capacity so you shouldn't expect everything to go well off the bat.

Give it a few matches, I expect the complaints to roll in and eventually the issues will get sorted.

These track cam systems are fitted to the stands. They're two boxes of cameras with each wifi controlled to track each individual player on the pitch, guided by chips in their shirts (same system as collect players stats). But with the cameras at half time Poch has a screen in the dressing room and he can spin to any minute in the game and show any individual player what he was doing wrong or right. Next level shit.
I was worried there will be ‘fan cams’ to track who is in each individual seat. Given my previous post about chaos then that will be difficult (thank goodness!) :cautious::ROFLMAO:

Edit - and in terms of that we have 5 seats in a row. We all swapped around at half time. Maybe we should have assigned each other the seats then? ?

What did the did the outside lights in the veil look like at ground level? It is the only thing that doesn't look right to me but appreciate it may look different at a different perspective. But rest of the stadium looks spectacular. Watching it on tv, i weirdly thought we were playing at St James Park a couple of times. Will take a while to get used to it.

Financials out. Looks like total cost was £700m to June 2018. So £1bn is like accurate.

Any idea whats going on with the front 2 rows of South stand and why attendance was 59k?

Obviously segregation factors in but thats 3k short of capacity?

Anyone know why the front 2 rows in the North Lower stand were left empty?

Some of the criticism of the bars etc. seems a bit harsh. There was always going to be teething problems for the first fews games while the staff get used to everything. As for running out of beer, that's a bit daft, but I obviously the more games we play there the more accurately they'll be able to judge how much they need to order so that will sort itself out too eventually.

I also assume the congestion will get a bit better once everyone gets used to where to go. People will presumably have been wandering all over the place to "explore" which obviously creates more congestion than there usually would be.

Was different seeing highlights on tv to being there. At the ground it feels like the Lane. Watching the highlights I don’t recognise the ground at all. It doesn’t help that the camera is now in the west stand so the Paxton is to the left and the Park Lane is to the right. It’s completely thrown me watching on telly.

One minor disappointment to me is the choice not to illuminate the stands during the game. It's something I've always disliked about the Emirates at night. Prefer what you see at Celtic or Anfield - the fans in the stands visible. Hope they'll experiment with going the other way.

I like 'moody' lighting, reminds me of Staples Center when the Lakers are playing, it adds to the atmosphere.

I like the moody lighting too. Feels a bit more intimidating imo.

Was hoping there’d be more pictures in here today.

Its a great stadium and the way youre over the pitch is a strange experience - because of how steep everything is

Is it me being a fat fucker or are the seats a bit cramped? proper tight but leg room is good.

It was mayhem on the concourse taking forever to get food but when i did i liked the food - the chicken tikka pie was good although would have preferred a sausage roll but they ran out of all pies at HT. The burger with beef brisket was lovely really good burger...

I saw Alyson Rudd waiting in the queue with her fucking Dictaphone looking like she was moaning and they presto she was.

What if you put a very large mirror facing the TV screen then sit behind the TV and watch the game in the mirror, would that help everything will be the other way round..

I think they need to go back and seal sections off.
I was in he north stand and it was impossible to get near the bars before the game but that’s because you had the while north lower and most of the north upper trying all at once.

The upper tiers should be locked to use their facilities up there.

I don't think it is designed that way as North upper for example offers very little in terms of food / drink. I was in queue in North Lower for ages for a simple burger and fries - very slow service and for a limited menu they should have been better prepared as only had 2/3 eating options on menu. Anyway hoping just teething problems and we see big improvement in coming weeks.

Probably just the coverage I was watching but seemed a bit underwhelming when you could hear the palace fans more than ours.

Maybe a mixture of new surroundings for many, and the tense environment of the first game meant we were a bit reserved but doesn't mean the atmosphere won't be hostile on Tuesday
Not sure what you were watching but there was plenty of noise, the Palace fans made themselves heard, they always do but only in patches when we were quiet. The general mood once we got going was that we needed to win, basically the football took over and the party stopped for a while as it should. I was in the south stand lower and there was plenty of noise not that you'd say the place was rocking.

There are always going to be teething problems as the staff get match-fit if you like to working at the bars and restaurants. Also, a majority of people are curious and probably more are eating at the stadium and it will thin out a bit over time as people go back to their old haunts. I don’t care how many food options they have, I’m always gonna go and have some Turkish mangal in Wood Green if I’m eating out - for £12 you eat like a king!
