This is a) pie in the sky and b) my opinion, but the sets: "Players it appears Poch would like to keep" and "Players who would happily stay this summer", have, I believe, the following intersection:

Lloris, Gazzaniga
Trippier
Vertonghen, Sánchez, Foyth
Davies
Dier, Winks, Sissoko
Dele, Son
Kane

I'm not sure about KWP, Lamela and Rose but Poch has seemed reluctant to utilise the former 2 and I'm not sure whether Rose will want to stay.

If "the project" has reached the point of reboot, that core 13-16 players is a stronger starting point than what we had when Poch arrived at least.

4-5 quality options needed though.
We'll sign 1 or 2 at the most and that will be balanced by sales to Eriksen and Toby.

There’s no reason to stay at a top 4 club, on good money, in CL QFs, with great manager, new stadium and your boyhood club where you’re a legend?

None of y’all deserve the club

Yeah, from a neutral perspective I think there are very few reasons for him to stay. From a Spurs fan perspective there are many reasons for him to stay.

Yes, we are in the CL atm. But we are also on our way to throw away top 4. The new stadium is nice, but it's not a reason for a player to stay. Sure, in the long run the stadium will boost our economy, but not so much in the short term.

Look at our starting eleven 16/17 compared to our best starting eleven right now. Our current starting eleven is not even close to be as good.

A stadium is one way to show ambition. Signing players is also a way to show ambition, especially when the starting eleven is not as good as it used to be.

I can't see us winning a trophy anytime soon. And if Toby and Eriksen leave, it will not be easier. Every player wants to win titles, including Kane. We as fans can wait forever, a player can't. He's soon 26 years old. He can't wait 10 years for the stadium to boost our economy. If we don't win anything soon, I can see him leaving us two seasons from now.

Shearer? Le Tissier? Gerrard (who won nothing but a League Cup in his last 10 years at Liverpool). I'm sure there are plenty of other examples of great players staying put.

H might leave in another couple of years, he might not. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Because we will sell one or two. We will replace Toby and Eriksen if they both leave IMO.
Vorm and Llorente are both out of contract, so that's another 2 spaces and there's no way GKN or Janssen have a future at the club beyond the end of this season either.

Kane will give us one more season I reckon but if as likely nothing is achieved or won soon then yes I don't blame him for wanting to try his luck elsewhere, surely he can't spend his whole career at spurs and win fuck all.

Youth players will replace those IMO.

They may well do but, given that the likely candidates are U21, it still leaves empty slots in the 25 which could be filled using the money received and freed up by those departures. It's hard due to the overriding feeling on SC around "investment" currently, but we would do well to remember that the last couple of windows are far from the norm during ENIC's tenure.

It's just going to be the same old shit. Eriksen will go for £100m, Toby for £30m.

Then we'll spend...exactly £130m on inadequate replacements.

Gerrard who handed in a transfer request?

Trying to directly replace Eriksen would be futile and a massive mistake imo. Much better to use the money to genuinely refresh the squad and adapt to the loss.

And then stayed put.

Probably feared for his life. Le Tissier and Shearer were in the age before modern football with free flowing money and televised games left right and center so I don't know how comparable they are to Kane.

I can see the writing on the wall. Towards the end of the last window, the ITK started spinning the narrative that it was not Levy holding back but rather Poch not wanting the players put forward. The key here is that Poch doesn't have his own back channels/ITK, but the club do so we'll never really know who he's after or what is actually taking place between him and the club behind the scenes. Without his side of the story it becomes easy for the club/Levy to put these competing narratives out there (that Poch is stubborn etc).

So I fully expect them to shift the blame on Poch this summer if Levy doesn't get his bargain basement deals. It was shameful enough this past window, but will be worse if they try to pull it off again despite Poch pulling trees to get us where we are this season. I understand Poch is not perfect, but he has done a heck of a job to reserve the right to get his type of players. I honestly don't know of any other manager who could've done a better job given the circumstances this season, with the stadium delay, world cup, multitude of injuries at key points in the season and the constant speculation surrounding him.

If last summer wasn't massive enough, then this summer will practically make or break this club. Levy cannot play his games this time and in Poch we have a manager who is calling his bluff. No more sub standard, poor quality alternatives for players. There is never a substitute for quality which almost always comes at a premium. That's something Levy will never understand.

P.S. If we don't make CL this season, then I can quite easily see the club making excuses that we can't sign top quality players because we'll be short CL money and the lower appeal due to lack of CL. That's another way I can see this unfolding. Although keep in mind that it never kept the likes of Chelski from spending that kind of money CL or not.

Pochettinho needs to look at the system because we are tooo reliant on Kane to score goals since coming back from injury nobody else has scored... I don't blame Kane but we do have some cowards hiding from their responsibilities.

I not at all happy with our full backs left attacking forward and centre midfield needs reinforcements.

We need to spend.
