Not sure why any of this suggests poch is off to utd!!

Its simple he has a team/squad and he is happy with it, you have to trust him. The fact most dont agree is why they are on this forum and not in the changing room on a Game day

This isn't my own opinion but I can see the perspective of seeing the ITK as information from the club which shifts the issues we've had more onto Poch which could possibly change peoples opinion on him to make it more palatable should he leave for United.

I don't see it that way myself, I'm just considering the possibility of other peoples perspectives.

Does anyone else think that now we have lost Ali as well as Kane, other clubs are going to think (and probably rightly so) that we are somewhat desperate to buy players and raise all their prices?

At this point one can only assume Levy offered him Andy Carroll and Poch was all "nah mate your all right". He would probably cost 100 mil in medical fees as well over a season and a half.

Is Poch trying to test the resolve Of DL? Is there an end game? Or has one of them lost the hymn sheet they are both supposed to be singing from?

That and in 2 weeks we will have Son and Sissoko along with Moura which greatly improves the current dire situation. Not worth signing somebody who will take up room if they're not good enough.

The only logical explanation is that he's got a list of about 3/4 players and isn't budging even if we've been quoted ridiculous prices. If true then I think Pochettino is very wrong as above all he is a coach and he's improved 90% of the players at this club. He surely has to look at potential rather than just the finished article. There's hundreds of players that would improve this squad, whether it be in a first team or rotation role.

If Poch's the one blocking it, I don't think it's him being stubborn and on the contrary, I think he's being very calculated, and the fact that he no longer has the patience to improve younger players, in Tottenham. It's why he reportedly/from ITK that he asked for the few top players he wants and only them. If he gets them, great he will be happy to stay. If not, publicly 90% of the blame will go to Levy for not backing him anyway so he will still have his good name in tack for his many, many suitors. The less player we sign the better he will look when he decides to leave. Either way it's a win win situation for him and if that's the case, I don't blame him one bit. I just hope it's the former one.

He's saying, improve the squad with a significant signing. If it's another squad filler I'm good, I'll use the squad I have to the max then.

I get where he's coming from really.

Levy will only get the blame if we offer a low price or lose out due to 11th hour renegotiation. That has happened on many occasions and bitten us in the backside

This is why knowing who has been blocked is so key.

If he's turning down the likes of Werner or Malcom then no one is defending that.

I'd wager it's not a player of that quality.

The info from JJ tonight is really worrying to be honest, JJ is the one who is usually spot on with his info and the info given our injuries is really negative and a huge gamble by Poch. It does worry me that he is being too stubborn with this squad, it is down to bare bones, exhausted and I dread to think where goals are coming from in the next few games.
We need something in Jan even if to just give everyone a boost, yet the info from JJ tonight suggests nothing is going to happen and Poch is happy...crazy if this proves spot on which JJ stuff usually does.

Exactly, when we’ve a fully fit/available squad we’ve too many players so I accept Poch’s argument that it’s quality or not at all. The issue is we can’t write off whole seasons because of injuries exposing our weaknesses. It’s part and parcel of football, injuries happen and given our style of play we’re always at a high risk of players getting injured/burning out. The only way we’re going to improve is if we have a cull of our average players and bring in a couple of quality players.

The fact we paid for Sanchez shows we are willing to pay bigger fees occasionally. But if Poch only wants top tier players £100 million might get one of them, but probably not two. Bit of a nightmare tbh. Truthfully, this team is only two or three top players away from matching the best first 11s across most of Europe. We have to start winning things without them though if we want to attract them in the first place. Catch 22. Has any itk suggested which three or four he actually wants?

So basically Poch is doing the football equivalent of that thing that kids do where they ask for something over and over until the parents finally give in, offer to get it for them and then suddenly the kid decides they don't want it now, even though they really do but they're being stubborn and cutting their nose off to spite their face? Cool. Time for a nightcap, I think. I wonder where we keep the bleach these days...

De Jong is the only name that ITK have mentioned (that I have read) Other than that it's a guessing game (which totally isn't worth doing)

Identifying players that we have ZERO chance of getting. Come in AVB!

Would be interesting to know who these targets are and why we have zero chance of getting them...

Reason A)

Zero chance of getting because we won't pay the fee the clubs want /player wages/ agents fee /dry cleaning bill?

Reason B)

Zero change of getting because Poch wants Messi?

(hypothetical questions of course, not actually asking herc)

By which point we could well be out of both domestic cup competitions and dragged back into a top 4 battle. And what's to say Lamela doesn't get injured again, or Moura? Both have patchy records.

Greatly improves seems a bit strong, I'm not quite sure losing our star man Kane and our big game player Dele at the same time is ever ideal. If Liverpool had Salah and Firmino out most teams would fancy their chances against them.

Also what if the players offered are good enough?

To be fair to Poch when he is flexible / not stubborn he gets Janssen instead of Batshuayi or Fazio instead of Musacchio and I’m sure Njie and GKN were cheap substitutes for other targets he had.
Well we should be scouting better; Janssen plays nothing like Batshuayi. I think we're just not good at identifying players.

I mean, I know who I want us to be targeting and Trix has mentioned him recently and I believe Herc has too. There's also other scenarios where I believe a short term punt is worth the risk. I only referred to greatly improves in the sense of going from LLorente, Nkoudou up top to Son and Moura that for me is a great improvement.

The problem we have is that we could be out of both cup competitions by saturday so unless we are signing somebody by then, this is the reality we face.
