Maybe it's not a matter of thinking Ndombele isn't good enough, it's just that we think that De Jong is worth the 80M it would cost to get him but Ndombele isn't (maybe we value him closer to 45-50M)?
In the end though, it's not what we value him at that matters. The selling club have a price at which they will sell and if we don't meet that, they simply don't sell. If we value Eriksen at £225m and no-one will pay it, same situation. Although I appreciate with his contract running down it's slightly different.
