Serge Aurier move from PSG to Tottenham could be imminent - source

PARIS -- Defender Serge Aurier could wrap up his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham Hotspur imminently if his work permit application succeeds, a source close to PSG has told ESPN FC.

Aurier -- who has had a summer exit agreed since the start of last month -- has negotiated a five-year contract with Spurs.

The transfer will cost €25 million if his application for a UK visa and work permit is successful.

The source told ESPN FC on Monday that Ivory Coast international Aurier will discover whether or not that is the case in the coming hours.

If it has succeeded, his move to North London will be made official in the near future. If not, PSG will turn to other interested clubs -- possibly Inter Milan -- in an attempt to find a late taker.

It will not surprise me if he is refused visa and work permit by Home Office, we are Spurs something always go wrong.

I can't believe people are still moaning about selling a player that didn't want to play for us anymore, that the manager didn't want in the squad and that we sold for a world record fee for his position

He needs a work permit here though. He can get his documents from France today, but I'd guess that he can't be registered in England until tomorrow.
We'll never know what went on behind the scenes. This comment from Rose suggests we could've kept him if we wanted:

“But I didn’t want to see Kyle sold. I wish him all the best and he deserves what he is earning. City will win a trophy this season and he deserves to be part of that.

“I knew Kyle may have been moving at the end of last season and I did voice my view. ‘Try to keep him, he’s the best, why would we sell him?’ — I said that to the manager.

But I’ve seen the manager say he feels Tottenham had the best of him and if that is what he feels, I fully respect the judgement of the manager and Daniel Levy.
Yeah but we didn't want him so we sold him early in the window. Trippier finished the season ahead of him and we did well with him. It would be a huge slap in his face had we put Walker in the first team (which seems to be a suggestion from people because of a mistake in yesterdays game) even though Walker was clearly not part of the managers plans anymore.

Well, yeah, it's the decision to get rid of him that I'm questioning and that it appears that it wasn't just a case of he didn't want to play for us anymore.

I like Trippier but he's inferior to Walker in almost every aspect of the game. I like the look of Aurier but you're always taking a gamble with a player if they've never played prem football before.

I haven't seen any quotes from Walker saying he wanted to go up north, it's plausible, though.

He wasn't a Kane but he was, by some distance imo, the best RB in the league.
As an American I always get a chuckle about this "I want to go up north" to Manchester stuff. It's fucking 208 miles...that's shorter than New York to Boston which is considered a regional rivalry/derby here.

That maybe the case with most people but Rose and Walker are hardly examples of intelligent specimens..

Ha ha. It's all relative I guess. My Ozzie mate considers anything less than 200miles a trip down the road.

Not true! Newcastle is easily less than 208 miles from Sydney. I know because I used to do the trip up to the International Sports Centre every second week in the 80s when I worked for SBS. Not to mention Wollongong south of Sydney. Both have produced good footballers in their time. Anyway completely off topic. Sorry.

When I first started following Premier League football around a decade ago and was looking for a team to support, I thought the team that most reminded me most of a Baltimore team would be the team I'd choose. It wasn't. I chose Spurs simply because how much Arsenal & Chelsea reminded me of the Red Sox & Patriots. It's like they cloned those Boston fucks and moved them over to London. Strangely, it was the hate that drew me in, not the love. I learned to love Spurs later.
