Why does it? His contract is up next year and unlike English clubs European sides don't tend to charge extortionate fees for players approaching the final year of their contract.
That's why it makes sense.

i've gone through almost 3 matches. I'm not saying he is bad but he really isn't anything special not sure why we would even decide him over Periera especially with the money we have received this window and RP's relatively low cost.

I don't believe as Tolijan is a better option than Kyle Walker-Peters. KWP knows the system and will be a certain understudy. Tolijan does not know the system and will be a certain understudy. If it's a "cost" thing, KWP is far cheaper. Pereira is the far better option. Versatile. Far more experienced and he can serve as competition to Trippier immediately. Trippier is, IMO, a far better positional player than Walker and yes, he is a far better crosser of the ball. Not a bit better. Miles better. Walker's speed allowed him to be way out of position and recover. Trippier is not as slow of mind and I believe he will be just fine. He was the starting right back at Burnley for 4 years. Got them promoted, and, as a result of his performances, was brought in to Spurs. He's pretty good. No need to eat our own on this one. Neither with KWP versus Tolijan or Walker versus Trippier.

Bild article is also referring to the Portuguese Record article. Nothing in this for time being.

I was more impressed by Benjamin Henrichs who we were linked to a while back but who seems to have disappeared off the radar. He seems an extremely versatile player who is also quite tall and strong by the looks of it. Trippier and KWP are both small which could be an area opponents would target if we don't have any other options.

I think it has more to do with how much Poch can improve this kid. Poch has a great record of developing full backs.

In the last home game last season Martial backed into Trippier while he was in the air, and Trips had to be subbed. I think Martial got a card it was deliberate. Big players may target him, he should be good as a wing back , but might not so hot in a at back four.

Hoffenheim 'Director Of Football' Alex Rosen: 'If Tottenham Hotspur come and offer 3 x times the player's salary, you can't say no".

Well, that's interesting. We are definitely in for him then. I've suspected for a while he's the mystery German we are in for.

Full quote: "If Tottenham comes and offers triple his salary, then you can’t really say ‘London is an unattractive city’ or ‘Tottenham a bad club.’ This is all very positive – and young people think about this stuff."

Previous salary rumored at 4.5k or so, sounds reasonable.

Have to question our scouting after this, perriera at a low cost compared to this guy it's like
Choosing Bertrand over Kyle naughton and to be fair I like Kyle
Naughton but this is a weak decision very disappointing if true

I can see the logic in going for him actually in terms of the back up right back position. I think we need a better right back than Trippier but it seems that Poch has faith in him and we are getting this guy in to challenge KWP to the back up right back slot.

For me its a no brainer, young u21 player for Germany, a good very cheap price, plenty of potential to improve under Poch.
Why not? What is ruining football for me this summer is the vast amount being spent, and what is being missed is managers/coaches taking a chance at improving players with their coaching etc.
That's what I love about Poch, he has full faith in the younger players, and his ability at improving players. So why not Toljan?
Fuck Pep and this oil written cheques.
